The European Union, its Member States and Europeans across the continent are mobilised in support of people fleeing the war in Ukraine. We are working on all fronts to support Ukraine with assistance, humanitarian aid and civil protection. This specific initiative wants to support researchers of Ukraine by providing them with an overview of all existing actions at European and national levels.

The European Commission's priorities

Science4Refugees

The Science4Refugees initiative and the EURAXESS portal provide research refugee friendly internships, part-time and full-time jobs, and access to an European Research Community. Researchers of Ukraine are eligible to benefit from the Science4Refugees initiative without the need of holding the refugee status.

School Education Gateway

Classrooms and school administrations across the continent have mobilised to express solidarity with Ukraine.

ERC for Ukraine

The European Research Council (ERC) has appealed to its grantees to provide temporary employment to refugee researchers and support staff from Ukraine. The information on possible job opportunities will be progressively published on the ERC website.

COST programme

The COST Programme provides funding for establishing research and innovation networks. All researchers, irrespective of their physical location, affiliated to Ukrainian legal entities, are eligible to receive COST funding. Researchers can apply for short-term research stays, Virtual Networking Tools and/or join any Action Working Group via an easy online procedure. Researchers, who are new to COST, are invited to explore the running COST Actions. Read here the COST statement about Ukraine.

EIT traineeship call

On 11/03/22, EIT launched a traineeship scheme for people residing in or displaced from Ukraine, to help continue their professional development and discover new opportunities while building their transferable skills.

(EIT Health) Ukraine Appeal

EIT Health’s network is supporting hospitals in Ukraine with medical supplies through its Ukraine Appeal’ with their partners, offering jobs and scholarships for colleagues and students and caring for patients.

European Cluster Collaboration Platform

Are you a EU or Ukrainian SME which suffered from heavy loss of import/export market due to the current geopolitical situation? The Enterprise Europe Network “Supply Chain Resilience” platform will provide you with a partner matchmaking tool to help you overcome your urgent needs and any disruption to your value chain. The platform offers the opportunity to make targeted and time-efficient contacts with all actors in industry, academia and government.

Ukraine, support for researchers and innovators

Ukraine’s association to Horizon Europe and Euratom programmes, in force as of 9 June 2022, is the key means of support to Ukraine’s Research & Innovation (R&I) ecosystem. This publication provides an overview of the opportunities under Horizon Europe and other actions supporting Ukraine.
