France - Guatá short term mobility scholarships for indigenous Brazilian PhD students

The inclusion of indigenous Brazilian students in higher education also involves access to international mobility. From this perspective, the French government, through the French Embassy in Brazil, renews the "Guatá" mobility scholarship notice for the Doctorate level in France for the academic year 2025-2026.

Scholarships can last from 6 to 11 months and are intended exclusively for indigenous Brazilian students.

This year the programme expanded the list of partners to 10 Brazilian universities: Unicamp, UnB, UEA, UFGD, UFPE, UFRR, UFMG, UFPA, USP and UnilabCandidates must be registered and studying the first, second or third year of their doctorate at one of the partner universities in 2025.

One of the objectives of this scholarship is to strengthen the international dimension of French higher education and research establishments and contribute to the diversity of international student profiles.

What is offered

The selected doctoral students will benefit from French government scholarship status (BGF), being entitled to the following benefits:

  • French government scholarship status (BGF);
  • Free pre-consular procedure “Studies in France” with Campus France Brasil;
  • Free visa at the Consulate of the district;
  • Free registration fees for the doctorate at a French public institution of higher education and research that practices an exemption within the meaning of Decree No. 2019-344 and within the meaning of article R719-49 of the Education Code in establishments under the supervision of the ministère de l' Enseignement Supérieur, de la Recherche et de l'Innovation;
  • Social security coverage in France upon arrival in France for the first three months. It will be the scholarship recipient's responsibility to take the necessary steps to register with the French social security system. Once this registration is obtained, the scholarship holder must provide Campus France with their certificate of entitlement to benefit from the additional insurance established by Campus France.
  • Help with finding accommodation (in university residences managed by CROUS) throughout France, where accommodation costs are reduced (the rent of which is at the expense of the scholarship holder). Applicants must request this assistance from Campus France by the deadline of June 15, 2024. Note: Obtaining the scholarship does not guarantee accommodation.
  • Round-trip air ticket to Brazil/France (dates defined according to the calendar of the chosen university course)
  • The monthly value of the scholarship is 1,704 euros for a doctoral student for a period of 6 to 11 consecutive months;
  • Access to a catalog of cultural activities at preferential prices (exhibitions, concerts, weekends and discovery stays, etc.).
  • Administrative and pedagogical support for scholarship students;
  • Possibility of joining the France Alumni network.
