EURAXESS India is organising an exclusive webinar for Indian researchers about the 2024 MSCA-PF call on: 22 April, 3.00-4.30pm IST (11.30-13.00 CET).

This 90-minutes webinar focuses on how to apply for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF), with valuable tips from our expert speakers.

Our main guest speaker, Lili Kankaya, will provide an overview of the policy aims and objectives which underpin the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships, as well as cross cutting issues, which will help in the developing a robust and successful application. 

We will also hear from 3 MSCA Postdoc fellows from India about their personal experience on how they cracked the MSCA Postdoc Fellowship.

Lili Kankaya

Horizon Europe Senior Executive at Malta Council for Science and Technology, EURAXESS Malta

 

Lili Kankaya

Lili Kankaya is a Senior Executive at the Framework Programme Unit at the Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST). Lili is the NCP and Programme Committee member for MSCA in Malta since June 2016. Ever since Lili has organised various MSCA events and trainings and has helped numerous applicants to be successful in their MSCA proposals. Lili is in charge of the EURAXESS Malta and its dedicated portal. Lili is an University of Malta graduate - B.A. Hon International relations and M.A International Law.

 

Dr. Sanjeeb Mohapatra

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the Delft University of Technology, Netherlands

Dr. Sanjeeb Mohapatra

Dr. Sanjeeb Mohapatra is a Marie Skłodowska Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. Prior to this position, he served as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the National University of Singapore. His research focuses on identifying and quantifying emerging contaminants and evaluating their fate during wastewater treatment. Through the Marie Skłodowska Curie Fellowship, Dr. Mohapatra aims to develop a novel photoanode to remove emerging contaminants such as pharmaceuticals, poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), and antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs) through photoelectrochemical oxidation of secondary treated wastewater.

Dr. Mohapatra was also the recipient of the Newton Bhabha PhD Placement Fellowship from the British Council, the Water Advanced Innovation Fellowship from the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF), and the INSPIRE fellowship from the Department of Science and Technology India. He is a co-founder of The Academic, which facilitates the communication of scientific knowledge between academics and the public.

 

Dr. Garima Rathee

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral, "NANO-PROTECT" project

Dr. Garima Rathee

Dr. Garima Rathee, who earned her PhD in Chemistry in 2021, has a diverse research background. Following her doctoral studies, she collaborated with the National Institute of Immunology and Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India, from March to May 2021. Subsequently, she transitioned to the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, serving as a Project Associate in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. In September 2022, Dr. Rathee joined the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain, as a Postdoctoral Researcher on the European-funded "SYMSITES" project. This project focuses on developing technologies based on the Industrial and Urban Symbiosis (I-US) concept to enhance resource sustainability, particularly from wastewater and waste materials. Recently, she embarked on a new role as a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellow, working on the "NANO-PROTECT" project. This project aims to engineer antimicrobial nano-coatings for hospital textiles, aimed at mitigating the spread of healthcare-associated infections. Despite her early career stage, Dr. Rathee has already made significant contributions to the field, with 28 papers published in various international journals.

Dr. Indrajit Sahu

Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Research, SRM University, Chennai

Dr. Indrajit Sahu

Dr. Indrajit Sahu, is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Research, SRM University, Chennai. He has completed his PhD from ACTREC-Tata Memorial Cancer Centre, Navi Mumbai in the year 2015. Then he joined Technion-IIT in Israel for his first Post-doctoral research with Prof. Michael Glickman in Faculty of Biology. In 2017 he received Marie Curie Postdoc Fellowship and continued his research at Technion until end of 2020 as an EU-Research Scientist. During this tenure Indrajit could also secure two more short Postdoc fellowships from FEBS and Welcome-Trust, UK. Then he moved to Harvard medical school in the beginning of 2021 to continue his research until March-2023.

Since the last 12 years Indrajit has been working in the field of Ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS) and protein degradation. He has discovered many fundamental roles of UPS in human pathology including Cancer, Neurological disorders, Cardiomyopathy and Oxidative stress.

What is the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship about?

The aim of the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships is to equip postdoctoral researchers with complementary professional skills for their future careers through the implementation of a personalised research project. International, interdisciplinary and intersectoral mobility is the central element here.

Who is eligible?

Researchers of any nationality and from all scientific disciplines with a doctoral degree and a maximum of 8 years of full-time post-graduate research experience at the time of the submission deadline are eligible to apply.

Where can I carry out the Fellowship?

European Postdoctoral Fellowships are available at a host institution in any of the 27 EU Member States or at a host institution in any of the current Horizon Europe Associated Countries.

The mobility rule applies to all applicants: they may not have lived or worked in the host institution’s country for more than 12 months in the 36 months prior to the submission deadline.

When is the deadline?

The 2024 call for application opens on 23 April with a deadline for application on 11 September 2024.
