The main task of the selected Doctoral Researchers is to complete their PhD successfully during the employment period. Approximately 5 % of the working hours will be allocated to teaching (the contents will be negotiated according to the expertise area of the researcher). We also expect successful candidates to be willing to actively engage in the unit’s research community (for more on who we are and what we do, see https://research.tuni.fi/plural-en/.

  • Time management skills

  • Ability to be a member of a multidisciplinary and international research environment

  • Good English language skills.

Therefore, applicants who have already had funding for example for two years are not eligible.

In case the applicant does not yet have the study right for the Doctoral Programme in Language Studies, they must apply for it separately in the April 2025 application round. Please note that the application for study rights is submitted through a separate Opintopolku system (Opintopolku). The application deadline for study rights ends on 30 April 2025, at 15.00 (Finnish time / EEST / UTC +3). Please note that the deadline for the study right is slightly different from the deadline for the salaried positions (see below)
