U.S.: Research & Innovation Policy Assistant position at EU Delegation to the United States

The European Union Delegation to the United States of America in Washington, DC is looking for a Research and Innovation Policy Assistant in the Global Issues and Innovation Section.

The post of Research and Innovation Policy Assistant, Local Agent Group II, in the Delegation's Global Issues and Innovation (GIN) Section. The Section consists of 12 people and there are occasional atypical working hours. As a key member of the GIN Section, the successful candidate will be under the supervision and responsibility of the Research and Innovation Counsellor, whose main objective is to promote and facilitate EU-US cooperation in science, technology, research, and innovation.

The successful candidate will be assigned the following duties and tasks:

  • Monitoring and reporting on US research and innovation policy developments;
  • Contribution to the stimulation of EU-US research cooperation;
  • Coordination of outreach activities, including in-person and virtual events;
  • Establish and promote contacts with relevant stakeholders in the US Administration, Congress, U.S. research community, thinktanks, and civil society;
  • Act as Secretariat for the EU Science Counselors’ Group;
  • Organization, support and reporting of visits from Headquarters;
  • Diary planning and assistance in other general tasks for the R&I team;
  • Backup to the section's Research and Innovation Counselor.

It is important to note that the Delegation of the European Union does not sponsor visas for Local Agents. Applicants must have an existing and valid US work authorization that does not require Delegation of the European Union sponsorship.
