75 Horizon Europe 2024 calls for proposals will open on October 17th, 2023 with deadlines for submission from late February 2024.
Horizon Europe is open to U.S. participants bringing their own funding. However, in some cases and under certain conditions, U.S. participants can receive funding directly by the European Commission. In the case of Canada, it is also considered a Third Country currently, however Canada and the European Commission are negotiating Associated Country status, which would mean Canada would participate in Horizon Europe Pillar II calls similar to EU Member States and be eligible for funding. The Canadian Government also has additional funding.
Regardless of situation, as these are consortia-based funding, the North American participants will have access to the best research and innovation groups in Europe. Participation is very easy for U.S. participants bringing their own funding, as they can benefit from the Associated Partner status, which exempts them from having to sign the Grant Agreement with the European Commission.

How to find a partner in Europe? You can easily find partners to submit a joint proposals by sharing your interest or consulting the ‘Partner Search Announcements’ option available for each of the Call for Proposals (see links below). In order to do so choose the call you’re interested in, open the link and scroll down on the page of the Call for Proposal in question and click on ‘Partner Search Announcements’. Look through the list for possible partners, or enter your own announcement for other partners to see. You can also reach out directly to your known European peers and ask them if they are planning to submit a proposal. You can also reach out to the dedicated the National Contact Points of Horizon Europe for more information and further guidance on how to collaborate with the program.
