The Rutgers Postdoctoral Association (PDA) will host EURAXESS North America for an information session on EURAXESS services and Horizon Europe. Learn about the European Union's free EURAXESS services for researchers at all career stages and university staff alike, as well as Horizon Europe, the EU's framework program for research and innovation.

We invite members of the Rutgers community to join us in person on Thursday, June 20th, 2024 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM ET.

EURAXESS North America will inform on the tools available from the EU that promote and fund researcher mobility and cooperation, open to researchers of all nationalities, all disciplines, and at all career stages in the United States and Canada. Other useful initiatives will also be touched upon, such as EURAXESS North America's support to the European scientific diaspora networks in North America, the organization of frequent info sessions on European funding opportunities, training to support career development, and much more.

EURAXESS North America is an initiative of the European Commission established to provide free access to information about research in Europe, opportunities for research funding, international collaboration, and transnational mobility. It links researchers in the U.S. and Canada to Europe.

After this info session, participants will be able to ask more detailed questions. The in-person info session is free and will be held in English.

Organizers and speakers:

Dr. Aysegul Gungor Aydin is a postdoctoral research associate at Rutgers University's Department of Psychology, System and Behavioral Neuroscience. She received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Pamukkale University, Turkey in 2018. After completing her Ph.D., she continued her studies at the University of Virginia as a post-doctoral researcher until moved to Rutgers in 2021. She serves as a president of the Rutgers Postdoctoral Association and International Networking in NYC, an organization that aims to provide support and professional development opportunities for national and international STEM scientists affiliated with institutions in the NYC area.

Dr. Derya Buyuktanir Karacan is a researcher and adjunct professor at the Institute for International Science and Technology Policy (IISTP) under the Elliott School of International Affairs of George Washington University, focusing on science diplomacy. She works as a regional coordinator at EURAXESS North America, the European Commission’s international project covering the U.S. and Canada. Dr. Buyuktanir Karacan holds a Ph.D. in Economics and International Relations of the European Union from Ankara University, Turkey. After completing her Ph.D., she continued her studies in the Department of Government at Georgetown University, as a postdoctoral fellow between 2014 and 2015. Following her tenure at Georgetown University, she taught courses on global politics, introduction to international relations, and the European Union as an assistant professor.
