The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Japan, together with several other entities, organised the 'European Higher Education Fair 2016' on 11-12 June in Kyoto and Tokyo. The fair aims to showcase some of the most interesting higher education programmes Europe has to offer. At the event, housing more than 60 booths, several thousands of visitors were able to speak directly with representatives from institutions in over 15 European countries.

EU programmes open to students and researchers, such as Erasmus+ and those under the Horizon 2020 framework, were also be promoted. Seminars on the career benefits of studying abroad, scholarship opportunities, and alumni panel discussions were organised at both venues.

EURAXESS was present with both a booth and seminars at both venues.

Europe is the global leader in providing study programmes for international students. The EU's 4,000 higher education institutions currently host 45% of the 4 million students who study outside their home countries each year. They are attracted by world-class curricula, teaching excellence and cultural diversity.
