Join us for a 90-minutes webinar on the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship Call, which is due to open in mid-May.

Hear from researchers from across ASEAN and India who are carrying out postdoctoral research as MSCA Fellows in Europe.

The webinar will take place on 20 April at 10am Central European Time/ 1.30pm Indian Standard Time and is organised in collaboration with EURAXESS ASEAN.

The webinarwill be held in English.

Dr. Praveen Kumar

Chair, Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) Indian Chapter

Assistant Professor, School of Materials Sciences, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, India

Dr. Praveen Kumar is working as an Assistant Professor at the School of Materials Sciences, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) -Kolkata and also a Chair of Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) Indian Chapter. He has done his Ph.D. in Physics from the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He is the recipient of several recognized awards and fellowships, few of them are BRICS Young Scientist Award, Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship, INSPIRE Faculty Award, 05 Best oral/poster award in various international conferences and Gold Medal in M. Sc. (Physics). Dr. Kumar’s research contributions cover a broad spectrum of topics in optoelectronic materials and devices, including III-V semiconductors, LED emitters, Tandem & Intermediate bandgap solar cells, Photoelectrodes for hydrogen fuel, Broadband Photo-detectors, and Next-generation sensors.

 

Dr. Nanasaheb Thorat, M.Sc.Ph.D., MRSC

Marie-Curie Fellow, Medical Science Division, University of Oxford, UK

Dr. Nanasaheb Thorat is an Experienced Researcher currently working as a Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Oxford, Medical Science Division in the UK. He is a two-time winner of the Marie Curie Fellowship and also acts as Marie Curie evaluation panel member for life and engineering sciences since the year 2019.

Dr. Thorat has published 50 peer-reviewed journal research papers and articles, 5 Books, 10 book chapters, presented 5 Keynote Speech, 15 invited lectures and 5 oral presentations at prestigious scientific peer-conferences, received international acclaims and awards for research contribution, generated research fund in excess of > €550,000 (Rs 4.50 Crore), supervised students/junior researchers and actively participated in outreach and scientific dissemination for the service of the wider community.

Dr. Thorat is awardee of the European Commission's innovation Radar “Grand Prix of the Innovation Radar Prize 2020”.

 

Dr. Garima Singh

National Research Council of Canada, Herzberg Astronomy and Astrophysics Research Centre, Canada

Dr. Singh is currently working as a Research Officer at National Research Council Canada. She has obtained her PhD in Astronomy & Astrophysics from Paris Observatory, followed by a Postdoc at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California. From 2018-2020 she was a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the Paris Observatory France, working on improving the high-contrast imaging (HCI) capabilities of THD2 bench (Très Haute Dynamique) at LESIA.

She has six years of hands-on experience of working at the world class observatories: MaunaKea in Hawaii and Palomar mountain in California. Her professional goal is to lead the next generation exoplanet imaging instruments for the future extremely large telescopes. Her life goal is to empower women/minorities and support the education of underprivileged children.

 

 

ASEAN

 

Dr. Jenny Lind Elmaco

Chairperson, Marie Curie Alumni Association in Southeast Asia and National Contact Point for the Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions

Dr. Jenny Elmaco is currently Regional Coordinator of EURAXESS for ASEAN.

Apart from the Marie Curie, she was also a recipient of the Erasmus Mundus scholarship. She earned her PhD in Peace and International Development with the highest honors (sobresaliente cum laude) from the Cátedra UNESCO de Filosofía para la Paz, Universidad Jaume in Spain. She has been part of several research groups including the the European Research Center for Information Systems, the Research Group on European Civil Society and Multi-level Governance at the University of Muenster, the Non Profit Team at the Vienna School of Business and Economics and the Studies on Intermediality and Intercultural Mediation of Universidad Complutense in Madrid, among others.

She is a Global Ambassador of WomenTech Network and is a University Fellow of Wesleyan University. She received the global Marie Curie Alumni Association Social Impact Award recently for her work in peace and security, tech for good, gender and humanitarian response.

 

Dr. Kimberly Solon

Marie Curie Fellow, WISEFLOW, University of Gent- Belgium

Dr. Kimberly Solon is a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University in Belgium. She received her PhD in Industrial Automation from Lund University in Sweden, her master’s degree in Environmental Sanitation from Ghent University for which she obtained Great Distinction, and her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of the Philippines.

Her research is focused on wastewater treatment processes and resource recovery from wastewater. In view of recognition of her expertise, she has been invited as speaker in several conferences and forums and has organized international conferences. She is an active member of the International Water Association, serving as management committee member in one of its specialist groups, working groups and task groups.

In 2019, she was awarded the prestigious MSCA Individual Postdoctoral Fellowship (H2020-MSCA-IF-2018 call) for the project WISEFLOW.
