March 2017 marks the 10-year anniversary of the European Research Council (ERC). ERC-funded scientists have won six Nobel prizes, five Wolf prizes and four Fields Medals. ERC-funded projects have also resulted in 100,000 articles being published in scientific journals, including more than 5,500 in the 1% most-cited scientific journals.
In ten years, the ERC has become a powerhouse of science. It is recognized as the best in the world in the way it supports fundamental research.
