MSCA Staff Exchanges Call 2025 Open

MSCA

The prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Staff Exchanges 2025 call is now officially open. With a generous allocation of €97.7 million, the European Commission aims to fund approximately 85 international collaborative research projects, reinforcing global partnerships and fostering excellence in research and innovation.

What is MSCA Staff Exchanges?

The Staff Exchanges programme supports international, intersectoral, and interdisciplinary collaboration through the exchange of research and innovation staff. Secondments are at the core of this initiative, enabling participants to temporarily work in a different country or sector to acquire new knowledge and experience.

Secondments for All Profiles

This opportunity is not limited to researchers alone. The call is open to:

  • Researchers and innovators
  • Administrative, technical, and managerial staff involved in research activities

Participants may be seconded abroad for up to 12 months, where they will enhance their skills, build international networks, and contribute to cutting-edge research.

Increased Monthly Allowance

A key update for 2025: the monthly allowance has been increased from €4,600 to €5,010 per mobilised staff member, reflecting the EU’s commitment to supporting talent mobility and fair compensation.

Who Can Apply?

Consortia must include at least three organisations from three different countries, of which two must be from EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries. Additionally, entities from around the world can join as associated partners. Eligible participants include:

  • Universities and higher education institutions
  • Research institutions and infrastructures
  • Private sector companies, including SMEs and startups
  • Public sector bodies (governments, museums, agencies)
  • NGOs and other socio-economic actors

Country Eligibility Update

A significant milestone for the 2025 call is the inclusion of Switzerland as an eligible country for funding under Horizon Europe. Furthermore, low- and middle-income countries can fully participate with costs covered by the project grant. High-income third countries can host and train seconded staff, and may second their own staff through national funding mechanisms such as those established in Japan, Canada, Brazil, and India.

Why Apply?

  • Gain international exposure and interdisciplinary experience
  • Access cutting-edge research environments
  • Expand your organisation’s global network
  • Strengthen long-term collaboration capacity
  • Benefit from EU funding and allowances
