Call for Seed Money Grant for Swiss-Latin American cooperation

switzerland

The goal of the Seed Money Grants is to strengthen or initiate scientific exchange between Swiss and Latin American researchers and institutions in all disciplinary areas by enabling them to jointly undertake preliminary research or organise projects and workshops.

For the period 2017-2020, the objective is to consolidate partnerships with priority countries according to past activities of the programme (Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru) and also to open the call to additional countries in the region. Comparative and interdisciplinary projects will be given special attention. Swiss researchers are invited to propose projects that promote collaborative, interdisciplinary and comparative research involving partners in more than one Latin American country.

Seed Money Grants are particularly useful to develop joint project proposals to be submitted to large funding agencies (National Science Foundations in Latin America and Switzerland, and EU funding schemes) or to combine already existing and independently funded projects in Switzerland and the partner countries in order to create long lasting cooperation.

The initiative is coordinated by the University of St.Gallen, through its Centro Latinoamericano-Suizo (CLS-HSG), that has been mandated by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), to act as Leading House granting incentives and developing joint research cooperation programmes with the Latin American region.
