Professor Isabel Reche Cañabate, from the Department of Ecology at the University of Granada, welcomes postdoctoral candidates interested in applying for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) in 2022 at this University. Brief description of the institution:

The University of Granada (UGR), founded in 1531, is one of the largest and most important universities in Spain. With over 60.000 undergraduate and postgraduate students and 6.000 staff. Brief description of the Centre/Research Group: 

The candidate will join the research unit “Modeling Nature: from nano to macro” (MNat, http://www.modelingnature.org) at the University of Granada (Spain). MNat unit emerged to make progress and educate the next generation of scientists in challenging topics at the interfaces of ecology, physics, biomedicine, engineering and mathematics. Only integrative and interdisciplinary approaches will allow improving our understanding of complex problems such the role of aquatic ecosystems in the global cycles of carbon and nitrogen in a scenario of Global Change.

Project description:

The candidate will work on microbial dispersal by atmospheric circulation and bird migrations. The main work will be developed in a European Infraestructure (LifeWatch ERIC) located in Sierra Nevada (Spain) (https://obsnev.es/proyecto-ugr-lifewatch/) collaborating with others microbial ecologists and atmosphere physicists, which warranting an excellent scientific environment. In addition, bird-borne microbial dispersal will be focused on big aquatic birds such as flamingos in saline wetlands. Knowledge on molecular tools is convenient.
