Description

Fabio Juliá's Group is looking for strong and enthusiastic candidates for the application to MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2024 (the most competitive and prestigious European Postdoctoral Fellowship) in the framework of the research program "Development of New Methods on Sustainable Photocatalysis with Applications to Organic Synthesis".

The MSCA-PF will provide a competitive salary, mobility and family allowances, and costs for research, training and networking activities.

Our group: Our research program aims to discover innovative reactivity modes in inexpensive and non-toxic first-row metal complexes to discover new and sustainable tools for chemical synthesis. The use of visible light as a clean and effective source of energy to fuel these processes, not only represents an economical and mild alternative but also constitutes a gateway to access new and distinct modes of reactivity under mild conditions. This strategy aims to use the innate reactivity in the excited state of Earth abundant metals (Fe, Co, Cu, etc.) to activate photocatalysis, which remains a fairly unexplored opportunity to activate catalytic metal centers and promote chemical events by light irradiation. This route will enable reactivity modes that go beyond photoredox catalysis to tackle global challenges of social, academic, and industrial interest.

We are a young and dynamic team leaded by Fabio Juliá, with a strong expertise in the fields of photoredox catalysis and inorganic photophysics and experience publishing in top multidisciplinary journals such as Science, Nature, JACS, etc. The applicant would work collaborating within the framework of the project “ExCEL", recently funded with an ERC Starting Grant (1.5M€) of the European Comission. We are based at the University of Murcia, located in the city of Murcia (southeast of Spain) and counting with a pleasant sunny Mediterranean weather and a vibrant atmosphere.

Research Area: Chemistry (CHE)

Requirements: Candidates with solid background in the fields of transition-metal catalysis, photocatalysis, organic synthesis or organometallic chemistry are welcome. A strong publication track is desirable in view of the highly competitive character of the MSCA-PF program.

Application:The position will be opened until a selected candidate is found.

Interested applicants should submit their CV and a motivation letter directly to fabio.julia@um.es with subject line "MSCA 2024 Application"

Please note that applicants must comply with the eligibility criteria of the MSCA PF 2024 call (must have a PhD degree at the time of the application deadline; must have a maximum of 8 years experience in research and should comply with MSCA PF Mobility Rule, available in the “2.3.2. Recruited researchers” section, p.121/142 of the MSCA Work Programme 2023-2024)
