Description

IMDEA Materials Institute is looking for postdoctoral researchers willing to apply for Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF) in call 2023 (deadline 13/09/2023). IMDEA Materials Institute has a long track record of hosting MSCA fellows and has obtained excellent success rates in recent calls of MSCA PF (approximately twice the average for the engineering panel in which we submit most proposals).

Interested candidates (if successful) will work under the supervision of Prof. José M. Torralba, head of the Sustainable Powder Technologies group at IMDEA Materials Institute and Prof. of Materials Science and Engineering at Carlos III University of Madrid. The candidate will work in materials development using powder metallurgy as the core technology. The Sustainable Powder Technologies group at IMDEA Materials is involved in developing materials for high strength for high-temperature applications, among other research lines. One of today’s hot topics in the group is the development of new high-entropy alloys or superalloys using non-critical metals. IMDEA Materials Institute has facilities to develop powder metallurgy materials by field-assisted sintering, metal injection moulding and additive manufacturing technologies. In addition, the Institute has facilities for powder development. Another strength of the Institute is the multiscale characterization techniques (including in-situ methods) and the integrated computational engineering, which can interact with any material development.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST:

Interested candidates, please email your resume and a brief outline of the proposed research project (2 pages maximum) to Prof. José M. Torralba (josemanuel.torralba@imdea.org) before July 15th 2023.

DESCRIPTION OF THE MSCA POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS:

The purpose of the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA PF) is to enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers holding a PhD, wishing to acquire new skills through advanced training and international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral mobility. This is achieved by implementing a research project at a host institution. The fellowship typically covers the researcher's two-year salary, research costs and overheads for the host institution.

The mobility rule of MSCA PF requires that the researcher (candidate) has not resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of their host organization (Spain, in the case of IMDEA Materials Institute) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the call deadline (expected to be September 13th 2023 for call 2023). Moreover, only candidates with research experience up to 8 years postdoc from the date the PhD degree was granted are eligible (with possible exceptions).
