IMDEA Materials Institute is looking for post-doctoral researchers willing to apply for Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF) in call 2021. IMDEA Materials Institute has a long track record of hosting MSCA fellows and has obtained outstanding success rates in recent calls of MSCA PF.

Interested candidates (if successful) will work under the supervision of Prof. De-Yi Wang, Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry, head of the High-Performance Polymer Nanocomposites (HPPN) group at IMDEA Materials Institute. The candidate will work in fire-safe energy storage materials for battery (new generation fire-safe energy storage materials for battery or self-powered fire-safe nanogenerator as new generation sensors). The HPPN group at IMDEA Materials has solid expertise in fire retardant materials, functional nanomaterials and high-performance polymers. IMDEA Materials Institute has facilities to the chemical synthesis, polymer processing, functionalization of nanomaterials and battery fabrication. In addition, the institute has facilities for fire tests (MCC, LOI, UL94, Cone calorimeter, Lab-made devices). Another strength of the Institute is the multiscale characterization techniques (including in-situ methods) and the integrated computational engineering, which can interact with any material development.

DESCRIPTION OF THE MSCA POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS:

The purpose of the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA PF) is to enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers holding a PhD, wishing to acquire new skills through advanced training and international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral mobility. The grant typically covers two years' salary, research costs and overheads for the host institution.

The mobility rule requires that the researcher has not resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of their host organization (Spain, in the case of IMDEA Materials Institute) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the call deadline (expected to be October 12th 2021 for call 2021). Moreover, only candidates with research experience up to 8 years postdoc from the date the PhD degree was granted are eligible (with possible exceptions).
