Description
IMDEA Materials Institute is looking for post-doctoral researchers willing to apply for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Individual Fellowships (IF), call 2020. IMDEA Materials Institute has a long track record hosting MSCA fellows and has obtain outstanding success rates in recent calls of MSCA IF.
Interested candidates (if successful) will work under the supervision of Prof. Ignacio Romero, Director of IMDEA Materials, head of the Computational Solid Mechanics group, and professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Madrid. The candidate will work in novel methods for the theoretical and computational analysis of mechanical metamaterials. More specifically, (s)he will work on the development of models and fast tools for the prediction of fracture in this kind of materials. The group has advanced in-house simulation codes that will be employed as development framework. Moreover, the institute has metal 3D printers that can be used to produce prototypes and characterization facilities to validate the results with experimental data.
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST:
Interested candidates please send your resume and a brief outline of the proposed research project (maximum 2 pages) via email to Prof. Ignacio Romero (ignacio.romero@imdea.org) before June 15th 2020.
DESCRIPTION OF THE MSCA IF:
The purpose of the MSCA Individual Fellowships (MSCA IF) is to support the mobility of researchers and help attract promising foreign researchers to work in Europe. The grant typically covers two years' salary, research costs and overheads for the host institution.
The mobility rules require that the researcher has not resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of their host organization (Spain, in the case of IMDEA Materials Institute) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the call deadline (September 9th September 2020 for call 2020). Exceptions to this apply under the career restart and reintegration panels.
The scheme particularly supports the return and (re)integration of European researchers from outside Europe and those who have previously worked here, as well as researchers displaced by conflict outside the EU and Horizon 2020 Associated Countries. It also promotes the career restart of individual researchers who show great potential.
