Description

SustAInLivWork (Centre of Excellence of Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Living and Working) project team invites postdoctoral researchers with a track record of significant research achievement to collaborate with supervisor from SustAInLivWork partner institution (hosting institution Hamburg University of Technology) and apply to the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2024 (HORIZON-MSCA-2024-PF-01), within the deadline of 11/09/2024.

The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA PF) under the European Commission’s Horizon Europe Research & Innovation programme are dedicated to excellent research promoting international mobility, as well as interdisciplinary and intersectoral exchanges.

MSCA PF grant provides a competitive salary (including mobility and family allowances if applicable), as well as a contribution to cover research, training and networking activities' costs. The research projects will have 24 or 36 months duration, depending on the type of fellowship:

  • European Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to researchers of any nationality who wish to engage in R&I projects by either coming to Europe from any country in the world or moving within Europe (duration: 12-24 months).
  • Global Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to European nationals or long-term residents who wish to engage in R&I projects with organisations outside EU Member States and Associated Countries (duration 24-36 months (including 12-24 months outgoing phase in a non-associated Third Country & 12 months mandatory return phase to a host organisation in EU Member State or a Associated Country).

RESEARCH GROUP: Institute for Ethics in Technology at Hamburg University of Technology (www.tuhh.de/ethics)

TUHH is the major technical university in northern Germany with its main campus in the south of Hamburg. The Institute for Ethics in Technology is committed to pioneering research and education at the intersection of ethics, analytic philosophy, and technological innovation. Our ambition is to integrate the rigour and insights from philosophical ethics and humanistic inquiry into all phases of technological development, implementation, and use, especially those connected to artificial intelligence. The three core pillars of our work are research, teaching, and knowledge exchange. We are especially interested in questions of AI in various domains, including medical technologies.

We would be happy to host any project within the ethics of artificial intelligence, especially if there is a component related to ‘ethics by design’, i.e. the integration of ethics into all phases of developing and deploying AI, as well as AI applications in the medical context. Key areas:

  • Ethics of Machine Learning for Medical Imaging
  • Ethics of Robotics and Navigation in Medicine
  • Ethics of artificial intelligence
  • Analytic normative ethics (any area)
  • Ethics by design
  • Neuro-ethics

Our group also collaborates with Alexander Schlaefer, who heads the Institute of Medical Technology and Intelligent Systems at TUHH, is a member of the SustAInLivWork project team, and has extensive experience with applications of AI in medicine.
