Description

The Universidad Nacional Agraria de la Selva is located at the west central part of the Peruvian

Amazon region, at 630 masl, it has a 24.8°C average annual temperature, 3293 mm annual rainfall and

80% relative humidity. These environmental conditions make this region favorable for growing a rich

biodiversity of native plants with nutraceutical properties or containing a variety of phytogenic compounds with potential use for improving animal welfare, health and production. This institution has been currently implemented with  equipment for research such as Raman spectrometer, HPLC-MS spectrometer, UV spectrometer, NIR spectrometer, FL spectrometer, ICP-OES spectrometer, AAS analyzer and trained technical personal for this equipment. Our research team conformed by researchers in animal and veterinary Science and Pharmacy is starting to explore finding nutraceutical plants and phytogenic compounds from the native plants from this region as the bases to carry out applied research for improving animal welfare, health, and production. However, there is very few local researchers working in this field for collaborative work and the local research funding entities are short in funds. Therefore, our research team is searching collaborative work with researchers and funding entities abroad, for achieving our purposes.jointly.
