Description
Description of the host institution :
The MOLTECH-Anjou laboratory (mixed CNRS-University of Angers laboratory) combines the skills of 80 people, including nearly 50 CNRS researchers, teacher-researchers, engineers and technical staff and around 30 PhD students and post-graduate researchers.
The scientific activity of the MOLTECH-Anjou laboratory is centered on the development of organic molecular materials or organic-inorganic hybrids, in support of highly visible areas such as organic electronics, stimuli responsive materials, nano-patterning or even materials for energy.
Description of the project :
My research activities are centered on the preparation and characterization of electroactive mixed organic layers (self-assembled monolayers, or films obtained by reduction of diazonium salts) on conducting substrates. My objectives are to establish, by means of electrochemical methods, relationships between the structure of the organic layer formed and its properties (or its reactivity).
As an example, we have recently developed a new methodology for the preparation of controlled two-component organic layers in terms of thickness and composition on carbon and gold substrates, through the reduction of aryldiazonium salts. This method offers new perspectives since it allows both the obtaining of stable organic layers, linked to the surface by covalent bonds, and completely modular, since the environment of the immobilized molecules can be adjusted thanks to the variation of the respective quantities of the two species involved. The objective of the project is to promote this method in the context of applications aligned with the expertise acquired by the candidate during his/her academic career.
Keywords : Surface functionalization – (spectro)electrochemistry - diazonium reduction – self-assembled monolayers – organic thin layers – bifunctional films – structure property relationship
Eligibility : Applicants must comply with the mobility rule (having stay in France less than 12 months in the past 3 years before the 10th of September 2025). Applicants also must have maximum 8 years of full-time research experience after graduating their (first) PhD.
