Description
The fundamental mission of the Phoenix Mediterranea Group (Andalusian Research Plan, HUM-509) is the RESEARCH, DISSEMINATION AND TRANSFER OF THE HISTORICAL-ARCHAEOLOGICAL AND CULTURAL HERITAGE OF WESTERN ANDALUSIA, focussing on the Phoenician period. Although in recent times it has extended its field of action to other historical periods and heritage sectors. The didactics, dissemination and transfer of knowledge to society, as one of the strategic ways of the group, stand out. The look towards the past is ensured through a historiographic and revisionist line and the look towards the future, in line with the third scientific revolution, with the application of new theoretical and methodological approaches and the integration of new technologies in the study and interpretation of the past: GIS, DNA, stable isotopes, virtualisation of heritage. With special attention to the multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach.
We offer the following:

- Archaeology of the maritime and terrestrial landscape in Phoenician-Punic times. Urban, political, administrative and cultural structuring of the territory.
- Historical/Archaeological process in Western Andalusia from Prehistoric to Medieval times.
- Archaeometry.
- Funerary and Cult Archaeology.
- The use of GIS applied to Landscape Studies.
- Virtualisation of Historical and Archaeological Heritage.
- Heritage Education and its Didactics.
- Teacher Training in Social Sciences and Active Methodologies.
- Dissemination, Outreach and Transfer of History and Historical-archaeological Heritage.
- Recovery of the role of women in Antiquity and Gender Studies
