Outline
Tasks description:
- Analysis of recent and paleo-metabarcoding data using standard tools for analysis of high-throughput sequencing data
- Adapting algorithms and statistical methods for the processing of metabarcoding data of particular taxonomic groups (e.g. foraminifera)
- Curating barcoding and metabarcoding databases of selected taxa targeted by the project
- Teaching and assistance in using bioinformatic tools applied to environmental genomics and paleogenomics
- Maintenance and updating of bioinformatics tools routinely used in the lab.
- Writing scientific publications
Presentation of the results at international scientific conferences
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in oceanography (specialization in marine biology/molecular ecology/microbiology)
- Strong experience in high-throughput sequencing data generation and analysis (metabarcoding and/or metagenomics) documented by research articles
- Experience in molecular techniques (DNA extraction, PCR, High-throughput sequencing)
- Excellent knowledge of statistical tools applied to microbial ecology and paleoceanography, with focus on biomonitoring and paleogenomics
- Proficiency in bioinformatics and biostatistics (R, Python or MATLAB)
- High motivation for scientific work
- Very good English written and verbal communication skills
- Authorship/co-authorship of scientific papers and conference presentations in the field of oceanography/paleoceanohgraphy
- Experience in field research and research cruises will be appreciated

- 1 adjunct position in the Institute of Oceanology Polish Academy of Sciences, Department of Paleoceanography, Environmental DNA Laboratory
- salary: 6841,00 PLN gross per month for 12 months
