About
Outline
The Johanna Quandt Young Academy (JQYA) is an independent academy within the Goethe University which fosters young researchers at the beginning of their independent career. It units and supports scientists from every conceivable discipline. Each year, the fellows and members of the JQYA formulate an annual theme for their Academy Program. The participation in the Academy Program is very dynamic and takes place in form of informal round-table discussions, conferences and workshops. In the founding year of the JQ Young, the topic focuses on “Nature and Normativity”. Under the conditions of modern sciences, we want to pose the questions like: What is our understanding of "nature" or of the "natural" in the sciences and in the humanities? What do we mean when we define a regularity in nature as “Natural Law”? How is the understanding of "nature" or of "natural" constitutive for our reading of "normativity"? What are the relations among the supposition of "nature" and the concept of "normativity" in the different fields of our disciplines?
What is funded
International young scientists, who are working in their field of studies on these questions and would like to join our interdisciplinary debates, are invited by the JQYA to the Goethe University of Frankfurt am Main for conducting their transdisciplinary research. A 12 months RESEARCH STAY at the Goethe University is exclusively dedicated to this year’s motto “Nature and Normativity” and is awarded with 60.000,-€. We will further support you with additional funds for traveling and accommodation. You will become a Fellow of the Johanna Quandt Young Academy to shape the Academy Program, your collaborative research at the Goethe University and your scientific career.
