Offer Description
The University of Porto through its Research Institute for Design, Media and Culture (ID+) at the Faculty of Fine Arts (FBAUP) is looking to recruit excellent young researchers planning to apply for a Marie Skƚodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF) to pursue a career in research. We invite applications from promising young researchers within the field of Design. The selected candidate will write a proposal for a 24-month MSCA-PF at ID+ FBAUP together with Prof. Susana Barreto. This is an opportunity to accelerate your research career while living in the beautiful city of Porto.
This call is one of six from pre-selected supervisors at ID+ FBAUP. Successful postdoc candidates will be invited to participate on an online workshop in late June / early july(date tbc), where they will meet their supervisor and learn how to write a successful MSCA-PF application. The selected candidates will write the MSCA-PF application, jointly with the supervisor, by the deadline of September 11, 2024.
In this call we search for talented, young researchers within the field of Plural Narratives in Design through Local Stories, as presented by Prof. Susana Barreto:
Wisdom Transfer, a project funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology in Portugal, focused on analysing the professional lives and work of Portuguese scholars and artists who graduated from the School of Fine Arts of Porto (ESBAP) during the 1960s and 1970s. This period was marked by the country's political Revolution of April 25th, 1974, which had significant socio-cultural repercussions. The analysis involved conducting semi-structured interviews with individuals who attended the school and later became professors. Approximately fifty testimonies were video recorded, each lasting around two hours, captured on both video and audio formats. I am interested in editing these videos into a documentary format. This may involve re-conducting some interviews or refining existing ones through new sessions. This data will be accessed through two distinct channels: a video archive accessible at the Library of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto, and the online dissemination of the videos via a website. I am seeking a candidate with experience in communication design, video production, editing (videographer and video editor), and web development to assist with the aforementioned tasks. The goal is to create a collection of short documentaries for both online viewing and offline access. This endeavour will facilitate the employment of the extensive interview portfolio gathered in the Wisdom Transfer project, fulfilling the initial objective of transmitting the wisdom of these scholars and artists to future generations and all those interested.
Please send your CV (max 3 pages) and describe a research project that will strengthen and complement the presented research (max 2 pages) to aferreira@fba.up.pt by June 21st 2024. Mark your application "ID+ @FBAUP MSCA".
