Offer Description
Work Plan:
The work plan to develop the following tasks:
• Task 1 – Formulation of starting materials that are at the genesis of the humidity-responsive
filaments.
• Task 2 - characterization of the materials synthetized as well as the precursor solutions in
order to choose the best processing conditions to obtain the non-woven membranes.
• Task 3 - production of the stimuli-responsive meshes and modelling of the materials.
• Task 4 - interactions between water droplets and the wet and dry membranes.
• Task 5 - Dissemination of the work developed in articles and technical-scientific conferences,
as well as the organization of periodic communication actions for the promotion of the results
obtained and the elaboration of periodic reports.
The workplan is in the framework of the DynaCellCollect project, that aims (1) to produce unique and
complex responsive soft structures without the use of complicated lithography or precision machinery;
(2) to give mechanical flexibility and stability to the system without the use of intricate deposition
techniques and (3) to activate the system with no need of microelectronics or batteries.
Workplace: The work will be developed at the Centre for Materials Research (CENIMAT/I3N) from
NOVA School of Science and Technology under the scientific guidance of Dr. Ana Almeida Researcher
of CENIMAT/I3N being the contracting entity the NOVA.id.FCT – Associação para a Inovação e
Desenvolvimento, FCT.
Fellowship duration: The fellowship will last for 12 months, scheduled to begin in July 2023, possibly
renewable within the duration of the project (if the research fellow is enrolled in a PhD).
Application deadline and form of application submission: The competition is open from April 14th
to April 28th, 2023.
Documentation to be provided in the application: Applications must be formalized, mandatorily, by
sending the following documents: a) Curriculum Vitae; b) letter of motivation, c) certificate of
qualifications and d) other supporting documents considered relevant, namely proof of enrolment in the
current academic year; consistent with what is detailed in point 2 of the Notice.
From of submission of applications: Applications must be sent, exclusively by e-mail, mandatorily
with the indication, in the subject of the e-mail, of the reference “BI_Mestre_1_ DynaCellCollect”, to
cenimat.rh@fct.unl.pt and ana.almeida@fct.unl.pt within the deadline for their submission. Applications
submitted by other means will not be accepted.
Documentation to be provided in terms of contractualization: proof of enrolment in a study cycle
(Master's or non-degree course) and certificate of recognition of the degree obtained abroad (if
applicable).

Recipients profile/category:
Mandatory requirements: The applicants must hold a Master’s Degree in Materials Engineering or
related fields and be enrolled in a PhD or a non-degree-granting course. Priority will be given to the
area of Materials Engineering and to candidates with research experience in the specific scientific area
of the work plan. The documents providing this situation must be presented, at latest, until the stage of
contracting the scholarship, and may before that be replaced by a declaration of honor. Average
Master’s degree greater than or equal to 14 values.
Preferred factors: Preference will be given to candidates with experience in research and publications
of scientific articles, the candidate must have the ability to work autonomously and in teams, write
reports and scientific publications and be fluent in English.

Additional Information
Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to €1,199.64,
with monthly payment by bank transfer.
Selection criteria:
The evaluation of the applications will focus on the merit of the candidate, applying the following criteria,
valued on a scale of 1 to 5 values:
A – Merit of the candidate – MC (80%)
A1 – Academic background: 30%
A2 – Personal resume: 60%
A3 – Motivation letter: 10%
Final classification of the candidate’s merit will be obtained by applying the following formula:
?? = (?1 × 0.3) + (?2 × 0.6) + (?3 × 0.1)
The candidates classified in the first 3 positions, who obtain the minimum classification of 3.5 in the MC,
will be admitted to the phase of the interview, proceeding the jury to evaluation of the following sub criteria:
B – Interview – INT: 20%
B1 – Interpersonal skills and motivation: 50%
B2 – Knowledge demonstrated in the area of the fellow: 50%
The evaluation of the sub criteria of the interview parameter will correspond to the following levels: high –
5 values; Good – 4 values; Sufficient – 3 values; Reduced – 2 values and Insufficient . 1 value. The
classification of the interview (INT) will be obtained by applying the following formula:

If a candidate invited to the interview does not attend it, they will be excluded from the contest. The final
classification (FC) will be obtained by applying the following formula:
?? = (?? × 0.8) + (??? × 0.2)
If a candidate has a final grade of less than 3.5, they will be excluded from the competition.

Form of advertising/notification of results:
The evaluation results proposed by the jury will be notified, up to 90 days after the deadline for the
submission of applications, by email, of the results proposed by the jury, with access to the minutes and
the final ranking list.
After notification, candidates will have 10 working days to comment on the draft decision (prior hearing
of interested parties, under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure). The final decision will
be taken after the expiry of the prior hearing period, again notified to all candidates by e-mail. Of this
final decision the candidates can file a complaint within 15 working days (to the e-mail address used for
the notification), or an hierarchical appeal, within 30 working days, addressed to NOVA.ID.FCT's Board
through the address coord1@novaidfct.pt.
