Job profile:

University Assistant – Tenure Track (40 hours/week), Department of Sociology, beginning October 1,
2023, for 6 years, possibility of a qualification agreement   

Main tasks:

- Independent sociological research on migration from a national and international perspective, proven by high-quality publications (also in English) in internationally peerreviewed journals and publications in renowned scientific publication organs (monography, edited volumes, etc.);
- Acquisition of third-party funded research projects;
- Independent teaching, examinations, and supervision of theses in the sociology courses of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences;
- Cooperating with members of the Department of Sociology on its research themes;
- Active participation in the Institute Colloquium, the research area „EPoS Wirtschaft, Politik & Gesellschaft“, and other research platforms and areas of the University of Innsbruck;
- Active participation in national and international professional networks in the field of sociology of migration;
- Contribution to third mission activities;
- Contribution to academic administration.  

Required Qualifications:

- PhD in sociology or another relevant discipline;
- Research on migration from a national and international perspective, proven by high-quality publications (also in English) in internationally peer-reviewed journals and publications in renowned scientific publication organs (monography, edited volumes, etc.);
- Excellent knowledge of and expertise in theory-guided quantitative research;
- Relevant academic accomplishments beyond the PhD thesis;
- At least several months of occupational experience after the PhD thesis;
- Experience in applying for and conducting third-party funded projects;
- Experience in postgraduate academic mobility;
- Strong teaching skills and teaching experience (demonstrated through student evaluations);
- Social competence and ability to work in a team;
- Language proficiency (C1) in English and German (or the willingness to teach in German within two years);
- Applications must include a research and teaching concept (max. 5 pages each); Applications must include the names of at least two people who can be contacted for reference; Applications must include two publications.
