Call for a Research Scholarship - BI-Mestre-EMERGE-01/2023

Call is open for the award of 1 (one) Research Grant under the Research Project “Emerging Printed Electronics Research Infrastructure” (EMERGE, GA 101008701) funded by the H2020 Programme from the European Commission, for the development of R&D activities to be carried out by PhD students or graduates and masters enrolled in non-academic degree courses, under the following conditions:

Recipient admission requirements /Profile:

1. be enrolled in a PhD or be a graduate and master enrolled in a non-academic degree course;
2. not exceed, with the conclusion of the scholarship contract in question, an accumulated period of 2 (two) years, consecutive or interspersed, if is a master enrolled in a non-academic degree course, or of 4 (four) years if enrolled in a Doctorate;
3. have a Master in the areas of Chemistry, Physics Engineering, Materials Science, Micro and Nanotechnologies Engineering, or related fields;
4. Experience in synthesis of oxide nanostructures, ink formulation and printed electronic applications on flexible substrates, including paper;
5. Experience in electrical characterization of electronic devices;
6. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team in an international environment and to work autonomously;
7. Strong interest in applied research and science;
8. Excellent communication skills with fluency in English.

Candidates who have obtained the degree abroad must have the degree recognized in Portugal, pursuant to Decree-Law No. 66/2018 of August 16^th.

Work plan: The candidate will develop research work according to the following tasks:

• Synthesis of oxide nanostructures and polymers processing;
• Preparation of new printable inks compatible with low-temperature processing;
• Design, fabrication and characterization of printed electronic/energy devices on flexible substrates;
• Provide techno-scientific assistance in the joint research activities between EMERGE partners and research activities of user-projects applied to UNINOVA;
• Preparation of periodic technical-scientific reports on relevant work developments;
• Participation in the dissemination activities and promotion of the results.

It is subsidiarily applicable the Regulation of UNINOVA Research Grants, approved by deliberation of the Board of Directors of the FCT-Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, in the meeting of March 2 of 2022.

Duration of the grant: The grant shall last for 8 (eight) months, until 31th December 2023, possibly renewable within the duration of the project, provided that it does not exceed the period referred to in point (b) of the admission requirements and is scheduled to start in May 2023.

Application deadline and form of submission of applications: The call for applications is open for the period from 30^th March to 12^th April 2023.

In the event of contractualization, the selected candidate must present the Proof of registration in a doctorate or in a course not conferring an academic degree.
