About your role

We are looking for a junior assistant researcher to be working within the UIC School of Architecture, research group on Sustainable Urban Living (Sul), on a Horizon Europe Project titled UP2030, dealing with urban sustainability and resilience. UP2030 is looking to enable sustainable transformations in 10 European cities and UIC Barcelona is aiming at study the cities planning needs for updating planning schemes and capacities in a first stage of the project, and build a capacity building and training program in a second stage.

The junior researcher is expected to assist the project tasks dealing with capacity building, training (creation of), business models for solutions implementation and mechanisms to scale-up.

Key tasks

The junior researcher will conduct research and coordination of tasks among other technological partners, respect to:

  • Urban resilience state of the art of training programs
  • Business models for sustainable and slow food services in cities and university campuses
  • Co-creating a framework for solutions up-scaling and co-framing business models for their implementation with the help of technological partners

Selection process

The UIC Barcelona selection process, following that which is outlined in the European OTM-R, will be carried out in two phases: a first pre-selection phase and a second interview phase.

The PI of the project will be tasked with carrying out both phases, both the initial evaluation and the subsequent interview. He might partner with other experts inside and outside of UIC Barcelona for completing the two phases of the selection process.

The following criteria will be assessed in the initial phase:

  • University and educational Background
  • Any further professional experience outside university education
  • Interdisciplinarity and exposure to an international environment of the candidate

In the second phase of interviews, the following will be considered:

  • Discussion of the candidate’s CV relevant to the position
  • Oral communication skills
  • Interpersonal soft skills

We offer

  • A temporary position (1 year)
  • A full-time contract, supportive working conditions and a dynamic international scientific environment
  • Salary: 19,000 to 21,000€/year brut salary depending on the candidate experience
