Offer Description
A position is open for a Research Fellowship for a Master under the project PAPEROVSKITE (ref. 2022.02954.PTDC), for the development of R&D activities to be carried out by doctoral students or master degree awardees enrolled in non-degree courses, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P., under the following conditions:
1. Scientific field: Materials Engineering and related areas
2. Admission requirements: Candidates must hold a Master's degree in Materials Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or Micro and Nanotechnology, and related areas, and be enrolled in a doctoral program or a non-degree program. Preference will be given to candidates with training and research experience in the specific scientific area of the work plan. Candidates who have obtained a degree abroad must have their degree recognized in Portugal, under the terms of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of 16th August.
The documents proving this situation must be submitted no later than the scholarship contracting stage, but may be replaced by a declaration of honor (as presented in the last pages of this call).
3. Workplan: The work to be developed is part of the objectives of the PAPEROVSKITE project and aims to develop high-efficient organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite solar cells on cellulose-based substrates. The perovskite materials (with single and mixed cation and halide structures) will be synthesized and the development of thin film layers will be performed on rigid and flexible substrates by solution-based deposition techniques. The optimization of charge transport layers will be done in the scope of the project. A wide range of device architectures, such as solar cells with superstrate and substrate configurations in n-i-p and p-i-n configurations will be studied. Optical, electrical and material characterization of individual layers and devices will be carried out to fabricate stable perovskite solar cells with high power conversion efficiency values. Additionally, large area applications for the photovoltaic devices will be investigated.
4. Applicable legislation and regulations: Legislation and applicable regulations: Law No. 40/2004, of 18 August, amended and republished by Decree-Law No. 202/2012 of 27 August (Statute of the Scientific Research Grant Holder) and amended by Decree-Law No. 233/2012 of 29 October, Law No. 12/2013 of 29 January, Decree-Law No. 89/2013 of 9 July and Decree-Law No. 123/2019 of 28 August; Research Grant Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. in force (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/docs/RegulamentoBolsasFCT2019.pdf).
5. Workplace: The work will be carried out at the Materials Research Center (CENIMAT/I3N) of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the New University of Lisbon, under the scientific supervision of Doctors Ugur Deneb Menda and António T. Vicente.
6. Duration of the fellowship(s): The fellowship is scheduled to begin in April 2023, and to last for 12 months, possibly renewable within the duration of the project (in the case of a fellow enrolled in a doctoral program).
7. Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The amount of the grant corresponds to € 1199.64, according to the table of values of grants awarded directly by FCT, I.P. https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/docs/Tabela_Valores_SMM_LOE_2022.pdf, and payment will be made monthly by bank transfer.
8. Selection methods: The selection of candidates will be made by the jury, based on the analysis of the Curriculum Vitae and its suitability for the proposed tasks. The evaluation of the candidate will take into account the candidate's merit, considering the parameters of the academic training (40%), the curriculum evaluation valuing the experience defined in the work plan (40%), the motivation letter (10%) and the interview (10%). If the jury chooses not to interview the candidates, the evaluation will correspond to 40% for the academic training, 50% for the curricular evaluation of the candidates, and 10% for the motivation letter.
9. Composition of the Selection Jury:
President of the Jury - Doctor Ugur Deneb Menda, NOVA School of Sciences and Technology
1st Voting Member - Doctor António T. Vicente, NOVA School of Sciences and Technology
2nd Voting Member - Doctor Manuel J. Mendes, Assistant Professor, NOVA School of Sciences and Technology
1st Substitute - Doctor Hugo Águas, Associate Professor, NOVA School of Sciences and Technology
2nd Substitute - Doctor Shrabani Panigrahi, NOVA School of Sciences and Technology
10. Notification of results: The final results of the evaluation will be notified, up to 90 days after the deadline for the submission of applications, by email, of the results proposed by the jury, having access to the minutes. After notification, candidates will have 10 working days to comment on the draft decision, in a prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms of the Administrative Procedure Code. The final decision will be taken after the prior hearing period and will be notified again to all candidates by email.
