Offer Description
1. By decision of the Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, Professor Miguel Tamen, a tender is open for the award of 1 Postdoctoral Scholarship (Bolsa de Investigação Pós- Doutoral).
This grant is funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, under R&D project ‘New Perspectives on the Objects and Grounds of Structural Rules’ (2022.03194.PTDC), of the Centre of Philosophy of the University of Lisbon, from the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon.
2. The scholarship will be awarded for 12 months.
3. The scholarship will be supervised by Dr. Bogdan Dicher and Dr. Elia Zardini.
4. The scholarship holder is expected to develop high quality research work, of a philosophical or technical nature, on substructural logics. Other duties include supporting the research, communication and dissemination activities pertaining to the project, a small amount of administrative work pertaining to the management of the project, as well as participation in the activities of the research group in the framework of which the project is integrated.

The application and all documents associated with it must be written in English, with exception of the application form, the degree certificate, and the statement of compliance.
No required application document may be submitted after the deadline.
For application purposes, diplomas, certificates and transcripts need not be submitted. In lieu, a statement of compliance is required. Official transcripts must be submitted prior to the signing of the contract.

Upon completion of the grant period, the scholarship holder has up to 60 weekdays to submit to npac@letras.ulisboa.pt (a) final report on the activities and results (in electronic format); and (b) the supervisor(s)'s evaluation of the final report.
The final report will be evaluated by the supervisor(s) according to the following criteria:
- Quality of the work developed - 60%
- Achieved results (publications, conference presentations) - 30%
- Integration and adaptation skills - 10%
Each criterion will be graded 0-20. The final evaluation will be 0-20.
Applicants must hold a PhD degree in Philosophy, Logic, Mathematics or Computer Science, all with a strong logic component.
Applicants must have excellent command of English (excellent written and oral communication skills).
Applicants must have a proven record of outstanding research, commensurate to the applicant’s career stage, as evidenced by existing publications of the highest quality.
Applicants must have a viable strategy for future outstanding research.
Applicants must have a proven ability or willingness to engage in collaborative research.
Applicants must have international experience, commensurate to the applicant’s career stage.
Applicants must permanently and habitually reside in Portugal at the start date of the fellowship.
Applicants must have obtained the doctorate degree in the three years prior to the date of submission of the application for the grant.
Applicants cannot have carried out their doctoral research at the Centre of Philosophy of the University of Lisbon, unless the majority of the doctoral research work have not been carried out in the unit.
Additional Information
Stipend in accordance to the Portuguese Science Foundation salary scale, €1686,00 per month (tax free) (see https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores), paid by bank transfer.
Insurance costs (Seguro de Acidentes Pessoais and Seguro Social Voluntário) are supported by the employer.
Acceptance of the fellowship is exclusive of any other professional or research activity (Art. 5 of the Research Fellowship Holder Statute).
The following applicants are eligible:
a) Portuguese citizens or citizens of other Member States of the European Union;
a) Citizens of other countries;
b) Stateless persons;
c) Political refugees.
The selection criteria, expressed on a scale from 0 to 20 points, are the following:
1. Candidate merit, including quality of the research statement (CM):
1.1. Curriculum vitae (weight: 50%);
1.2. Research statement (weight: 20%);
1.3. Writing sample (weight: 20%);
1.4. Recommendation letters (weight: 10%);
1. Interview (I).
Final classification = CM (60%) + I (40%)
Only applicants who obtain a value equal to or greater than 15 points will be invited for the interview, with all others excluded from the competition.
Applicants who, at the end of the entire evaluation process, have been evaluated with less than 15 points will not be considered eligible for the grant.

Applicants may submit queries or complaints about the decisions within a ten working days period at the prior hearing of interested parties by email to the address for sending applications (see section “Offer Description”).
Final decisions must be announced within 90 weekdays of the application deadline and up to 60 weekdays after the end of the query and complaint deadline.
A complaint may be lodged against the final decision within 15 working days, or, alternatively, an appeal may be lodged with the Dean of FLUL within 30 working days, both after the respective notification.
In case of non-acceptance by the selected applicant(s), the grant may be offered to any of the other ranked applicants within 18 months of the final announcement.
