Offer Description
The scholarship will be financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), through the Project “RevestCAST - Otimização dos processos industriais de aplicação de revestimentos comestíveis para a conservação pós-colheita da castanha” (POCI-01-0247- FEDER-049276).
This scholarship is for a student that have a Master's Degree in Biotechnological Engineering or a Student enrolled in a non-degree-granting Course in Biotechnology, Quality feeds.
The scholarship will have an initial duration of 5 months, starting on 21/02/2023, no possibility of renewal.
The main tasks of this plan are:
1) Develop innovative, sustainable and industrially viable coatings;
2) Carry out physicochemical, microbiological, and sensory analyses over the storage time of chestnut;
3) Assess the antioxidant potential over the storage time of chestnut;
4) Promote the dissemination and exploitation of the results generated in the project.

3) Suitability of the candidate's training and experience to the objectives of the work to be developed;

5) Proficiency in the English language (written and oral communication) will also be valued.

Additional Information
The amount of the grant corresponds to € 1.144,64 €, according to the table of values of the grants awarded by FCT, I.P. in the country. The fellow will also benefit from a personal accident insurance, and if not included in any social security protocol, may adhere to the Portuguese Social Security through the Seguro Social Voluntário (Voluntary Social Security), in the terms present in the Portuguese Código dos Regimes Contributivos do Sistema Previdencial de Segurança Social. The monthly salary will be payed monthly by bank transfer.

3) Suitability of the candidate's training and experience to the objectives of the work to be developed;
4) Experience in physicochemical, microbiological, and antioxidant potential analyses;

The selection methods to be used will be as follows:
a) Curriculum assessment and its suitability for the proposed work plan (60%);
b) Experience in physicochemical analyses (20%);
c) Experience in assays to assess antioxidant activity (20%).
The jury will be composed by Doctor Elsa Ramalhosa (President of the Jury), Doctor Lillian Barros, and Doctor Sandrina Heleno.
The communications and the final results of the evaluation will be disclosed by email notification to the candidates.
If the decision to be taken is unfavourable to the granting of the requested scholarship, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the date of publication of the evaluation results, to express their opinion, if desired, in a prior hearing, under the terms provided for in the Code of the Administrative Procedure.
Documents proving the ownership of academic degrees or diplomas, or enrollment in an academic degree or diploma, may be dispensed with during the application stage, being replaced by a declaration of honor by the candidate, although substantiation of this condition is mandatory during the grant contracting stage.
Academic degrees obtained in foreign countries require recognition by a Portuguese Institution in accordance with Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16th and Ordinance No. 33/2019, of January 25th. The presentation of the recognition is mandatory for the signing of the contract.
