Offer Description
1. By decision of the Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, Professor Miguel Tamen, a tender is open for the award of one Scholarship for BA students (Bolsa de Iniciação à Investigação).
This grant is funded by Portuguese national funds through Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, under project UIDB/04311/2020, of Centre for History of the University of Lisbon, from School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon.
2. The scholarship will be awarded for six months, and may be renewed up to a maximum of twelve months and during the eligibility of the project.
3. The scholarship will be supervised by Doctor Armando José Gomes do Norte.
4. The work to be developed by the scholarship holder is carried out within the scope of the project “BODY&SOUL. Representations of the body and of the soul in Portuguese medieval art and literature. The imaginary of Western Civilization in the making”, at the Centre for History of the University of Lisbon and will include the following tasks:
a) Survey and collection of sources, with emphasis on textual documentation.
b) Collaboration in the development and implementation of the project's digital humanities.
c) Loading the project database.
d) Production of content for the project's website and blog.
e) Support for the administrative activities of the project.
f) Support for the organization of regular meetings (scientific and management), to be held within the scope of the project.
g) Support in the organization of scientific events and dissemination of the project.
h) Participation in research team meetings.
i) Collaboration in the preparation of interim and final project reports.
j) Contribute to scientific production and cultural outreach activities.
5. Application submission

The application and all documents associated with must be written in either Portuguese or English.
No required application document may be submitted after the deadline.
For application purposes, diplomas, certificates and transcripts need not be submitted. In lieu, a statement of compliance is required. Official transcripts must be submitted prior to the signing of the contract.
Fellowships applicants must show that they meet the necessary conditions to enrol in the program leading to the attainment of the requested academic degree. Proof of acceptance will be required prior to the signing of the contract.

Upon completion of the grant period, the scholarship holder has up to 60 weekdays to submit to npac@letras.ulisboa.pt (a) final report on the activities and results (in electronic format); and (b) the supervisor(s)'s evaluation of the final report.
The final report will be evaluated by the supervisor(s) according to the following criteria:
- Quality of the work developed - 60%
- Achieved results achieved (publications, conference presentations) - 30%
- Integration and adaptation skills - 10%
Each criterion will be graded 0-20. The final evaluation will be 0-20.
Applicants must be enrolled (or willing and have the conditions to be enrolled) as BA Students (Bolsa de Iniciação à Investigação) in History at School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon.
Applicants must have a good oral and written command of Portuguese and English.
Applicants must permanently and habitually reside in Portugal at the start date of the fellowship.
Applicants must not have benefited from a fellowship directly or indirectly funded by FCT.
Additional Information
Stipend in accordance to the Portuguese Science Foundation salary scale, €486,12 per month (see https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores), paid by bank transfer.
Insurance costs (Seguro de Acidentes Pessoais and Seguro Social Voluntário) are supported by the employer.
Acceptance of the fellowship is exclusive of any other professional or research activity (Art. 5 of the Research Fellowship Holder Statute).
The following applicants are eligible:
a) Portuguese citizens or citizens of other Member States of the European Union.
b) Citizens of other countries.
c) Stateless persons.
d) Political refugees.
The selection criteria, expressed on a scale from 0 to 20 points, are the following:
1. Curriculum Assessment (CA):
1.1. Academic Qualification or level of qualification certified by the competent authorities (weight: 50%).
1.2. Complementary Training (weight: 10%).
1.3. Letter of interest (weight: 10%).
1.4. Preferred Factors (weight: 30%).
2. Interview (I).
Final classification = CA (70%) + I (30%).
For the interview, only applicants who obtain a value equal to or greater than 15 points, with all others excluded from the competition.
Applicants who, at the end of the entire evaluation process, have been evaluated with less than 15 points will not be considered eligible for the grant.
Applicants with diplomas issued by foreign higher education institutions may apply and will be evaluated using the same criteria as applicants with diplomas issued by Portuguese institutions, as long as they make proof, in their application, of the academic degree recognition and the conversion of the final classification for the Portuguese scale under the terms of the applicable legislation.
Applicants with recognized foreign diplomas who do not make proof of conversion of the final classification to the Portuguese scale or applicants who do not present a diploma (replaced by a statement of compliance) will be evaluated with a minimum classification of 10 points in the criterion “1.1. Academic Qualification”.

Selected applicant(s) will be notified by email.
Applicants may submit queries or complaints about the decisions within a ten working days period at the prior hearing of interested parties by email to the address for sending applications (see section “Offer Description”).
Final decisions must be announced within 90 weekdays of the application deadline and up to 60 weekdays after the end of the query and complaint deadline.
A complaint may be lodged against the final decision within 15 working days, or, alternatively, an appeal may be lodged with the Dean of FLUL within 30 working days, both after the respective notification.
In case of non-acceptance by the selected applicant(s), the grant may be offered to any of the other ranked applicants within 18 months of the final announcement.
