Offer Description
Applications are open for 1 Research Studentship, within the framework of project EMSO-PT - PINFRA/22157/2016, financed by funded by national funds through FCT/MCTES, and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), through COMPETE2020 - Competitiveness and Internationalization Operational Program (POCI) - POCI-01-0145-FEDER-022157
Workplan: Within the scope of the EMSO-PT project, IST will operationalize the use of two autonomous underwater vehicles of the SLOCUM class (Gliders) that will be tested under controlled conditions, targeting operation scenarios related to water column studies and data recovery from underwater observatories. To this end, the work to be carried out is related to the structural and functional design of the IST surface vehicles of the class MEDUSA and DELFIM and involves the introduction of modifications to enable the use of these vehicles as support vessels for the operation of SLOCUM class gliders.
Duration: The research fellowship(s) will have the duration of 6 months. It’s expected to begin in February 2023, and may be eventually renewed.

Additional Information
Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (http://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is € 875,98, being the payment method an option of the Fellow by Wire Transfer/Check.

Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following: Curriculum evaluation (60%), technical and scientific knowledge in CAD projects and CFD simulation software (40%).

Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.
