ANNOUNCEMENT FOR A RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP
Refª: EDITAL 01 BI-M_2023
INOV - Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores Inovação (INOV), as a Technology and Innovation Centre (CTI), is launching a call for applications for one (1) Research Grant to carry out R&D activities for a student enrolled in a Master's Degree aiming at consolidating his/her scientific training through the development of research work leading to the respective academic degree, in the context of the application submitted by INOV CTI to the base funding programme in the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (investment RE-C05-i02: Interface Mission) namely the actions described for Mitigation, Adaptation and Resilience to Climate Change.
INOV is both the funding entity and the host entity of the grant holder. The funding sources are wholly owned by INOV.

Generic Scientific Area: Environmental Engineering

Eligibility conditions: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related area, and enrolled in an Integrated Master's Degree or Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering or a related area.
Work plan: This research grant is awarded under the INOV CTI project, and its main objective is to empower Portuguese SMEs to create products and services for Climate Resilience' emerging market. It allows them to reach new markets and positioning at the forefront of adaptation and socio-economic resilience in the face of the impacts brought by climate change. To this end, a survey of the best technological innovations in ICT and traditional practices for climate resilience will be conducted internationally in at least 5 reference countries on the various continents, seeking to cover identified challenges that will arise in the Portuguese landscape. The project provides the collection – survey of good practices outside and within Europe – development – capitalization of existing knowledge – and transfer of knowledge and/or technological solutions to Portuguese SMEs in the field of Climate Resilience.
Applicable laws and regulations: This hiring is ruled by the legislation in force for the Research Grantee Status, approved by Law nr. 40/2004, 18th August, with several amendments including the ones introduced by Decree Law nr. 123/2019, 28h August, as well as by INOV’s Grant Regulation ratified by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) in 3rd January 2020, and by the ruling FCT’s Grant Regulation.

Place of work and Scientific Advisor: The work will be carried out at INOV under the scientific supervision of a supervisor (preferably a professor from IST or ISA) to be defined together with the candidate, with specialisation in the area of environment and climate resilience.
Duration of the scholarship (s): The grant will have a duration of 12 months, starting in February of 2023, possibly renewable until the end of the project or the end of the budget allocation and provided that this renewal does not exceed a maximum period of two years.
Monthly maintenance allowance Value: The scholarship amount corresponds to € 875,96 per month, according to the table of scholarships awarded directly by the FCT, I.P. in the country ( FCT Scholarship Values), with payment being made by Bank Transfer to a bank account held by the scholarship holder.
Methods of selection: The selection of the scholarship holder will be made by the jury, which will sort the candidates based on the analysis of the information and application documents, in accordance with the provisions of article 12 of the INOV Scholarship Regulation. For this, the following criteria will be used:
Candidate CV Quality - [30%]
Adequacy of academic training [40%]
Experience in activities related to the work plan and demonstrated motivation - [30%]
All applications will be scored from 0 (minimum) to 20 (maximum) in the assessment criteria considered.
