Offer Description
The Cyber-Physical systems laboratory at ICTEAM, UCL is involved in several international research projects devoted to the development of modern control techniques for complex systems (Cyber-Physical, Networked, IOT-enabled). We strive for transforming deep mathematical results into state-of-the-art control algorithms tackling novel challenges arising in engineering applications. In particular, some projects are more particularly related with Air Traffic Management, loT-related non-idealities, and control of smart buildings.
The applicant will participate in the ERC-funded project L2C.

Additional Information
A position in a vibrant research institute in the hearth of Europe. A competitive salary. The freedom to pursue your own research ideas and collaborations within the boundaries of the project.
The ERC-funded L2C project
The goal of L2C is to transform the abstraction approach in control into an effective, scalable, cutting-edge technology that will address the CPS challenges and unlock their potential. This ambitious goal will be achieved by leveraging powerful tools from Mathematical Engineering. Out of this research, a state-of-the-art software platform will promote our results and translate them into directly usable solutions for the scientific and industrial communities.
L2C is a pluridisciplinary project at the frontier between Control Engineering, Computer Science and Applied Mathematics. It bridges the gap between rich innovative techniques and emerging challenges in Control. It impacts both fundamental Science and Engineering, as the theoretical research is driven and fostered by cutting edge technological challenges.
The UCL is located in Louvain-la-Neuve, 25 kilometers of the center of Brussels, in the center of Belgium. Both commuting from the vibrant Brussels city center, or staying in the nice and car-free Louvain-la-Neuve, are possible. The Applied mathematics lab is well known in control theory, optimization, and network science (Pr. V. Blondel, Pr. Y. Nesterov, Pr. J. Hendrickx).
The postdoctoral positions are opened for one year, renewable for several years.
