Offer Description

A tender is open for the attribution of 1 Research Scholarship within the scope of the R&D project SUPERIOT project - "Truly Sustainable Printed Electronics-based IoT Combining Optical and Radio Wireless Technologies", (ref. 101096021), funded by the European Union, under the following conditions:

1. Scientific Area: Materials Science and Engineering;

2. Work Plan: The SUPERIOT project aims to explore the printing of supercapacitors, memristores and sensors on flexible substrates. The selected candidate will work closely with other team members to develop and optimize inks based on 2D materials processed by liquid phase exfoliation and/or sol-gel synthesis to be  able to print the aforementioned devices. This project is based on sustainable production principles. Therefore, the environmental impact of ink processing will be assessed and minimized as much as possible by choosing environmentally friendly solvents such as water. Also, part of the work plan is the optimization of the printing processes and standardization of the devices as well as their morphological, structural and electrical  characterization.

3. Applicable legislation and regulations: Law No. 40/2004, of August 18, amended and republished by Decree-Law No. 202/2012 of August 27 (Statute of the Scientific Research Fellow) and amended by Decree-Law No. 233/2012 of October 29, by Law No. 12 /2013 of 29 January, by Decree-Law No. 89/2013, of 9 July and Decree-Law No. 123/2019, of 28 August; Regulation of Research Grants of NOVA.id.FCT – Association for Innovation and Development of FCT; Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P. in force (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt);

4. Workplace: The work will be developed in the laboratories of CENIMAT|i3N of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the New University of Lisbon under the scientific guidance of Professor Joana Vaz Pinto, Doctor Emanuel Carlos and Doctor João Coelho, and the contracting entity is NOVA.id.FCT - Association for Innovation and Development of FCT.

5. Fellowship duration: The fellowship will last for 12 months, starting on February 15, 2023. The fellowship  contract may be eventually renewed within the duration of the project.

6.Application deadline and form of application submission: The call is open in the period from 14/12/2022 to 24/01/2023.

Documents to be provided with the application: Applications must be formalized by sending the following documents: Curriculum Vitae, qualifications certificate, proof of enrolment in a cycle of studies leading to the award of a PhD academic degree in Microelectronics and Nanotechnology or declaration on honour stating eligibility to enrol in one, cover letter and other documents that the candidate considers relevant to this application.

Form of submission of applications: Applications should be submitted by email to the CENIMAT RH (cenimat.rh@fct.unl.pt) and to Prof. Joana Vaz Pinto (jdvp@fct.unl.pt). The subject of the message should read "Candidature to SUPERIOT project".

Documentation to be provided during contracting: Proof of enrolment in a cycle of studies leading to the award of a PhD academic degree in Microelectronics and Nanotechnology.
