Admission Requirements: 

1. Be enrolled in a PhD programme in one of the specified scientific fields or in a non-degree awarding course;
2. To have experience and advanced knowledge in Geographic Information Systems (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS);
3. Proficiency in spoken and written Portuguese;

4. Proficiency in spoken and written English.

    

Preferred requirements:

1. To have knowledge and experience in processing, analysis, and visualisation of spatial data, including process automation tools, web mapping, or satellite image processing;
2. To be familiar with the main public policies and relevant databases for their evaluation.

Monthly maintenance allowance: The scholarship amount is €1309.64, in accordance with the FCT, I.P. grant value table for scholarships awarded in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Tabela_valores_SMM_2025.pdf), or as per the value table in Annex I of the IST-ID Research Grant Regulations (https://ist-id.pt/concursos/bolsas/ ). The payment will be made via bank transfer.

Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following: 

1. Curriculum evaluation (CV and qualifications) – 85%
2. Proficiency in English – 15%
3. Optional interview in case of a tie between candidates.

Announcement/ notification of the results: All candidates will be notified of the final evaluation result via email.

Deadlines and procedures for prior hearing, complaints, and appeals: After the communication of the provisional list of evaluation results, candidates will have a period of 10 working days to, if they wish, make a statement during the prior hearing of interested parties, in accordance with Articles 121 and following of the Administrative Procedure Code. The final decision will be made after reviewing the statements presented during the prior hearing. A complaint may be lodged from the final decision within 15 working days, or an appeal to the Executive Board of IST-ID within 30 working days, both counted from the respective notification.
