pplications are open for 1 (one) Research Studentship(s), within the framework of project “Dynamic Analysis for Territorial Approaches to Housing" – DataH /R&D CiTUA/IST-ID, reference 1801P.01504, financed by national funds through FCT/Investment “RE-C05-i08 - More Digital Science” from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP

Workplan: The selected candidate will participate in the "Dynamic Analysis for Territorial Approaches to Housing" (DataH) project, which aims to enhance the public administration's capacity to address housing challenges by developing a territorial observation and monitoring system that consolidates and analyses currently scattered and uncoordinated data. Specifically, the candidate will contribute to the following tasks:

  1. Compilation, processing, and exploratory data analysis;
  2. Development of analytical and predictive models for territorial analysis;
  3. Construction of composite indicators and metrics for assessing housing and territorial cohesion;
  4. Creation and management of relational databases for storing and structuring project data;
  5. Implementation of clustering algorithms and spatial pattern analysis.

  2. Have knowledge of Python, R, and tools for handling large volumes of data;
  3. Proficiency in spoken and written Portuguese;
  4. Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred requirements:

  1. Experience in data analysis, machine learning, and applied statistics;
  2. Familiarity with predictive models, clustering, and multi-criteria analysis;
  3. Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Dashboards).

Benefits

Monthly maintenance allowance: The scholarship amount is €1309.64, in accordance with the FCT, I.P. grant value table for scholarships awarded in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Tabela_valores_SMM_2025.pdf ), or as per the value table in Annex I of the IST-ID Research Grant Regulations (https://ist-id.pt/concursos/bolsas/ ). The payment will be made via bank transfer.

Selection process

Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following: 

  1. Curriculum evaluation (CV and qualifications) – 85%
  2. Proficiency in English – 15%
  3. Optional interview in case of a tie between candidates.

Composition of the selection Jury: Dr Sílvia Jorge, Dr Aitor Varea Oro, and Dr João Lourenço Marques.

Announcement/ notification of the results: All candidates will be notified of the final evaluation result via email.

Deadlines and procedures for prior hearing, complaints, and appeals: After the communication of the provisional list of evaluation results, candidates will have a period of 10 working days to, if they wish, make a statement during the prior hearing of interested parties, in accordance with Articles 121 and following of the Administrative Procedure Code. The final decision will be made after reviewing the statements presented during the prior hearing. A complaint may be lodged from the final decision within 15 working days, or an appeal to the Executive Board of IST-ID within 30 working days, both counted from the respective notification.
