The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Institute for Rehabilitation Sciences, invites applications for a
Junior Professorship for `Sign Languages`
from as soon as possible. This is a W2 tenure track position. In order to verify whether the individual performance meets the requirements of a permanent employment, an evaluation process will be opened not later than after five years of service. The professorship will be funded by the „Bund-Länder-Programm zur Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses“. The aim of the programme is to pave the way for a secure career in academia for early stage researchers. Tenure track professors at the HU Berlin are expected to carry out research and teach, as well as be active on various university committees and acquire leadership and management skills. The concrete requirements out of the framework catalogue [https://hu.berlin/tenuretrack_katalog] will be specified in the course of the appointment process.
The junior professorship will represent the field of "Sign Languages" in the area of Deaf Studies and Sign Language Interpreting in research and teaching. We are looking for people with special research qualifications in at least two of the following areas:
- Psycholinguistics of Sign Languages (L1/L2 Acquisition and Processing of Sign Languages)
- Translation Studies
- Deaf Studies
- Sign Language Linguistics
The teaching tasks result not only from the designated research fields, but also from the curricular requirements of the courses of study of the Institute for Rehabilitation Sciences.
Cooperation in the research focus of the Institute 'Language and Communication' is desirable.
Applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in accordance with § 102 a of the ‘Berliner Hochschulgesetz’.
