We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated PhD candidate to join the Hydrological and Climate Variability Group at the Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague. This exciting PhD topic will contribute to quantifying the added value of the latest state-of-the-art available meteorological forecasts (wide range: short-term, medium range and sub-seasonal) on hydrological extreme events and their predictability over different lead times. The candidate should have a completed MSc degree in environmental science, hydrology, meteorology, climatology or equivalent.

We seek candidates with:

1. Sound programming/scripting skills (e.g., R, Python).
2. A big advantage would be the ability to work with large-scale datasets, and familiarity with the netCDF format would be appreciated.
3. Interest and good knowledge of statistics.
4. Familiarity with hydrological modelling.
5. Fluent English.

The PhD candidate will be requested to write scientific publications and present results at international conferences. International collaboration is expected within the project.
