Offer Description

The Systems Biology of Host-Microbiome Interactions lab is looking for a bioinformatician to join us at the Centro de Investigación Príncipe Felipe (CIPF) in Valencia, Spain.

Our main interest is functional regulation in gut microbiome bacteria, and we currently work on in vitro and ex vivo approaches to study microbiome functionality and its regulation in health and disease.

The selected candidate will develop the following tasks in various funded projects of the lab:

  • Participation in the development of analysis pipelines and statistical methods to analyze the transcriptomes and metatranscriptomes of different sample types
  • Data analysis of different types: bacterial transcriptomics, 16S, metagenomics or metatranscriptomics of different sample types

Beyond these tasks, the selected candidate will participate in the preparation of scientific manuscripts and will be responsible for the data management of different projects.

Candidates should have:

  • A university degree (master’s level) in bioinformatics, biostatistics or related area. Higher
    qualifications (PhD) will be considered
  • Experience working in high performance computing environments and in the use of workload managers/job schedulers
  • Experience in at least one of the following:
    • biostatistics
    • (bacterial) transcriptomics data analysis
    • scRNA-seq data analysis
    • metagenomics or metatranscriptomics data analysis
  • Additional merits will be considered, such as the knowledge of other programming languages and communication skills.

What we offer:

  • A full-time contract for 2 years (until 30th April 2027) linked to two research projects, with
    the possibility of renewal.
  • Salary consistent with our pay scales, as stipulated in the Convenio de Sanidad Privada de
    la Provincia de Valencia.
  • Target start date: May/June 2025
