Offer Description

La Rochelle University is recruiting a research engineer in surface treatment and high-temperature oxidation on a 7-month fixed-term contract.

Research Environment

The Laboratoire des Sciences de l'Ingénieur pour l'Environnement is a joint research unit (UMR 7356 La Rochelle University - CNRS) whose themes concern mass and energy transfers in materials and inhabited spaces, covering large scales of space and time. Bringing together a wide range of skills in the field of environmental engineering (mathematics, physics, civil engineering, chemistry and mechanics), LaSIE is interested in the durability and protection of materials, structures and infra-structures subject to environmental constraints. The Laboratory also works on improving thermal comfort and indoor air quality in inhabited spaces.

Activity

The recruited person shall conduct research in the following topics: surface treatments (preoxidation, coatings by wet routes), oxidation/corrosion and metallographic, structural and chemical characterization. Potential studies on the identification of gas released species upon heat treatments are also envisaged.

The results shall be exploited as scientific publications and/or participation to relevant conferences. Work with other scientific groups away from the LaSIE laboratory is also expected. Therefore, the recruited person shall be available to travel depending on the specific needs.
