Offer Description

The Department of Ecosystemmanagement, Climate and Biodiversity, Institute of Silviculture is currently seeking a Postgraduate Research Associate (project employment).

Extent of employment: 30 hours per week 
Duration of employment: 1st of June 2025, limited to 31st of May 2028

Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group: B1

Gross monthly salary: (depending on previous eligible experience) at least: € 2.786,10
(payable 14 times per year) 

Responsibilities:

  • Working on a transdisciplinary research project on deadwood decay and the role of climate, forest managment, fungi and insects
  • Establishment and analysis of field experiments
  • Survey of fungi and insects using wood samples and trapping
  • Writing manuscripts for scientific journals
  • Presentation at conferences and scientific events
  • General project management

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Diploma degree in forest science, forest ecology or exosystem science or other equivalent university degree
  • Language skills: English, excellent in writing and speaking
  • Driving licence for cars (class B)
  • Ability to conduct field measurements

Desired skills and qualifications:

  • Knowledge about carbon cycle and ecosystem modelling
  • Experience in working in international research projects
  • Knowledge on fungi and saproxylic insects
  • Knowledge on programming and statistical analysis
