Offer Description
We are looking for a full-time pre-doctoral Research Associate/ Field Work Specialist to support the ERC-funded project – "Rural Structural Transformation in Developing Countries" (RUSTDEC). The project investigates the causes and consequences of structural transformation in developing countries and its potential interaction with climate change.
The position will be mainly based at UAB’s Bellaterra campus in Barcelona, with selected field work trips to Vietnam, and will be supervised by the Principal Investigator of the project, Prof. Andre Groeger. The successful applicant will participate in all aspects of the work, particularly around the planning and execution of data collection through surveys and field experiments as well as data analysis. The position is particularly appropriate for candidates with backgrounds in quantitative social science and experience in primary data collection, experimental methods and overseeing field studies.
Responsibilities include supervising the planning and implementation of data collection, programming digital household survey questionnaires, managing enumerator teams, cleaning and analyzing household survey datasets, produce publication-quality tables and charts, contributing to grant-writing, ethics approvals, and budgeting.
Candidates should have demonstrated experience in related field work tasks and be familiar with programming languages such as Stata, R, or Python. Previous knowledge of survey programming tools such as SurveyCTO (or similar) is an advantage.
