Offer Description
Contract duration: 22-month fixed-term contract
Salary: 2000-2400 euros per month depending on experience
Employer: École nationale des ponts et chaussées (see institutional website)
Location: LISIS lab (see lab website for details)
Project: Recherche Ouverte et Responsable X Research On Research (ROR²) funded by ANR (France)
École nationale des ponts et chaussées (ENPC) is looking for a researcher to fill in a 22-month postdoctoral position at LISIS lab, near Paris. ENPC is a public higher education and research institution, also part of Institut Polytechnique de Paris. The successful candidate will work within the ROR² team and be located at LISIS (Noisy-Champs, RER line A, cité Descartes campus).
Project Overview: Recherche Ouverte et Responsable X Research On Research (ROR²)
The research project has two main scientific objectives. First, it aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of researchers’ open science practices in relation with research integrity. This involves understanding the continuum from responsible research practices to bad practices, and even misconduct. The investigation will explore how research practices emerge, evolve, and are influenced by various contextual factors. The second objective focuses on reimagining the analytical framework for open science. The project will rely on a Research on Research methodology, and seek to unravel the intricate mechanisms that shape and transform research practices.
The ROR² project is structured across four work packages. WP1 will map the “topographical landscape” of research practices, considering the specific configurations and constraints that influence them. WP2 will develop a taxonomy of online platforms for knowledge dissemination (including data, protocols, papers and code, via commercial, institutional or non-for-profit stakeholders), tracing their strategies (including discourse, announcements, and functionalities they offer online) and evolution since the internet’s advent. This will provide unprecedented insights into the structural dynamics of the research ecosystem. WP3 will identify the mechanisms that can promote open science and research integrity, and will focus on those that undermine them (e.g., predatory publishing, open washing, research misconducts….).
