Offer Description
A call is open for the award of 1 (one) Research fellowship (BI), hereinafter abbreviated as BI or Research Grant, under the Research Grant Holder Statute, under the following conditions:
1. FINANCING:
The research grant will be co-financed by Maiêutica – Cooperativa de Ensino Superior, C.R.L., the founding entity of the University of Maia (UMAIA) and the Polytechnic Institute of Maia (IPMAIA), under the funding granted by the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES) for the execution of the Project approved under the Notice of October 24, 2023 – Call for applications for the Mental Health Promotion Program in Higher Education (PPSMES/DGES, 2023).
2. SCIENTIFIC AREA: Clinical Psychology.
3. WORK PLAN:
The fellowship holder will engage in the following activities:
a) Evaluate the execution, monitoring, and outcome indicators of the activities planned within the scope of implementing high-intensity interventions—screening, assessment, and psychological intervention—with students from the Maiêutica universe (UMAIA/IPMAIA) at the Psychological Support and Service Centre (CASP), within the framework of PPSMES (DGES, 2023). These activities include a literature review and the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.
b) Writing scientific articles for publication;
c) Participation in dissemination activities;
d) Help put into action the high-intensity interventions described in Maiêutica's PPSMES (DGES, 2023) along with the gathering and analysis of research indicators and data in this area.
4. DURATION OF THE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP (BI):
We will award the scholarship exclusively, for a duration of 20 months, starting in January 2024. The possible extension of the scholarship cannot go beyond 30/september/2026, except with prior authorization from the managing entity of the funding program to which it pertains.

2. Candidates who meet the requirements of the previous section and, cumulatively, satisfy the following requirement are eligible for this competition: being enrolled in the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at the University of Maia (UMAIA), a requirement to be duly proven through proof of enrolment/attendance.
The research grant will be preferentially awarded to those who demonstrate:
a) To hold a Master's degree in Clinical and Health Psychology (if the qualification was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, and any formalities established therein must be fulfilled by the time of hiring);
b) Interest and suitability of the profile for scientific research work in the Program for the Promotion of Mental Health in Higher Education (DGES, 2023);
c) Mastery of spoken and written English;
d) Research experience;
e) Clinical experience in cognitive-behavioral psychological interventions.

Additional Information
6.1. The amount of the felloship corresponds to €1,259.64 (one thousand two hundred and fifty-nine euros and sixty-four cents), according to the table of values of scholarships directly awarded by FCT, I.P. in the country.

6.2. The scholarship is paid monthly through a bank transfer.
6.3. Within the project's scope, Maiêutica covers personal accident insurance for all scholarship holders related to research activities.
6.4. In accordance with the Code of Contributory Regimes of the Social Security Welfare System, all scholarship holders not covered by any social protection scheme can exercise their right to social security by joining the voluntary social insurance scheme, with Maiêutica covering the costs resulting from the contributions under the terms and limits provided in Article 10 of the EBI.

Candidates who meet the requirements of the previous section and, cumulatively, satisfy the following requirement are eligible for this competition: being enrolled in the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at the University of Maia (UMAIA), a requirement to be duly proven through proof of enrolment/attendance.
1. The evaluation of the applications will be carried out through curricular evaluation (100%). The candidates will be ranked based on the criteria of the following number.
2. The Curriculum Evaluation considers the following factors, based on the documents presented in the Application:
a) Demonstration of proficiency in the English language, as evidenced by certificates, diplomas, or written works/articles in English, is a requirement worth 5 points, or 5% of the total.
b) Being enrolled in the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at the University of Maia (UMAIA): School Phase (20 points); Thesis Development Phase (25%) (5 points). (25%)
c) The alignment, or willingness to align, the theme of the research project of the doctoral program with the PPSMES (DGES, 2023) (15%).
d) Hold a master's degree in clinical and health psychology (10 points) or in another related field (5 points); if the qualification was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, and any formalities established therein must be completed by the time of hiring (15%).
e) Research experience, preferably in areas considered important for the development of the work plan (for example, quantitative and/or qualitative research methods; psychometrics) (20%).
f) Clinical experience and mastery of cognitive-behavioural psychological interventions are required. (10%)
g) The motivation letter must describe the candidate's professional and/or academic background (5%), the reasons for the application, and explain how it aligns with the work program described in point 4 of this notice and the criteria in subparagraph (c) of point 9.2 (5%).
3. The curriculum's parameters determine the classification. Evaluation is expressed on a numerical scale from 0 to 20, up to two decimal places. The classification of each candidate is obtained by averaging the ratings of each jury member. In case of a tie, the President decides the tiebreaker.
4. According to the evaluation conducted, the jury prepares an ordered list of candidates with their respective ranking, expressed on a scale of 0 to 20 points, up to two decimal places.

6. The jury, if deemed relevant, may summon candidates for clarification of the criteria listed above.
7. For the purposes of this article, the School Phase is understood to be the first and second years of the doctorate, and the Thesis Development Phase is understood to be the third and fourth years of the doctorate.

2. GRANT REQUIREMENTS:
1.Research grant contracts are managed in accordance with the regulations of the Research Grant Holder Statute and the Regulation approved by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), so the following documents must necessarily be submitted upon the granting of the scholarship for the purpose of its contractualization:
a) Copy of the document(s) proving the civil, tax, and, when applicable, social security identification numbers.
b) Proof of enrollment/registration in one of the courses provided for in this Notice.
c) Statement from the supervisor, or supervisors, assuming responsibility for the supervision of the work plan, in accordance with Article 5-A of the Research Fellow Statute (draft statement provided by FCT).
d) Work plan to be carried out.
2.The granting of the scholarship is still pending:
a) of the full compliance with the requirements set forth in this Notice;
b) of the result of the evaluation of the application as provided for in this Notice;
c) of the absence of unjustified non-compliance with the duties of the scholarship holder under a previous scholarship contract funded, directly or indirectly, by the FCT.
3.The failure to submit any of the documents necessary to complete the scholarship contract process, within the deadline indicated in the communication of the conditional scholarship award decision, implies the expiration of the aforementioned award and the closure of the process.
3. FORM OF PUBLICATION/NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS:
1. The evaluation results will be published through a list ordered by the final score obtained, posted on the website of the University of Maia – UMAIA (www.umaia.pt), within a maximum period of 10 working days after the final submission date of the application, and the candidates will be notified of the proposed decision via email, for the purpose of a prior hearing of interested parties, having a period of 10 working days to, if they wish, express their opinion, becoming definitive in the absence of opinions.The evaluation results will be published through a list ordered by final grade obtained, posted on the website of the University of Maia – UMAIA (www.umaia.pt), within a maximum period of 10 business days after the final submission date of the application, and the candidates will be notified of the proposed decision via email, for the purpose of a prior hearing of interested parties, having a period of 10 business days to, if they wish, express their opinion, becoming definitive in the absence of any opinions.
2.If there are pronunciations, the final decision is notified within 10 business days.
3.From the final decision, candidates may file a complaint within 15 business days, or appeal to the highest executive body of the funding entity, within 30 business days after the notification of the final decision, in accordance with Article 12 of the Research Grant Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology.
