Offer Description
The Department of Economics and Social Sciences, Institute of Sustainable Economic Development is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
Extent of employment: 20 hours per week (with the option of a temporary increase through third-party funding)
Duration of employment: as of now, limited to a period of 6 years
Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group: B1 lit. b
Gross monthly salary: (depending on previous eligible experience) at least: € 2.376,20 (payable 14 times per year)
Responsibilities:
- Independent research in the field of integrated modeling of climate-neutral energy systems, with a focus on developing
energy system models and integrating them into interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research projects - Acquisition and mananagement of research projects
- Publication of research results in international scientific journals
- Presentation of research results at international scientific conferences
- Independent teaching in the subject areas of the institute in German and English
- Collaboration in the interdisciplinary competence fields of BOKU as well as in national and international cooperation programs
- Contribution to the working group Land Use | Resources | Energy
- Economics Knowledge exchange with non-scientific actors (national and international) through the Third Mission
- Contribution to the self-government of the university, the department, and the institute
Required skills and qualifications:
- Doctorate degree / PhD in system modeling, (energy)economics and neighbouring fields
- Diplomd degree in Environmental-and Bio-Resource Management, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics or other equivalent university degree
- Language skills: English
- Experience in projekt work as lead or team member
- Excellent practical experience in programming in Python, R or in the development of optimization models
- Proof of relevant publications in international journals
- Experience in integrating empirical research findings from other disciplines into modeling
- Experience in incorporating modeling approaches into transdisciplinary research
- Experience with energy system models such as PyPSA-Eur
- Language skills: German, Portuguese
- Teaching experience
