Offer Description
Data analysis for the search for gravitational waves from coalescing black holes and neutron stars requires adapted filtering to cover the physical parameter space and maximise signal sensitivity. Different coverage methodologies will be studied in the project, and algorithms will be developed that reduce the calculation time and the number of filters necessary to reach the target sensitivity. The performance of existing codes will be improved, and the use of GPU-based systems and of Machine Learning methods will be explored. Effectiveness evaluations will be carried out using the Multi Band Template Analysis data analysis pipeline, already used in the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA collaboration. The goal is to improve the analysis of data acquired by existing interferometers and to contribute to the definition of analysis methods for the future Einstein Telescope.
