Offer Description
- work environment:
The zebrafish/opportunistic bacterial infections team in the research Unit Bacterial Virulence and
Chronic Infections of the University of Montpellier, located in Nimes, in collaboration with
HydroSciences Montpellier, is recruiting a motivated and creative postdoc fellow for a period of
13 months.
- main mission: (Offer description)
Achromobacter xylosoxidans is an emerging opportunistic pathogen of environmental origin that
can cause a wide range of infections in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) and
immunocompromised patients. Not much is known about colonisation strategies, disease
progression or the molecular mechanisms of infection. The pathogenesis of other
Achromobacter species is even less known. The post doc will use zebrafish embryos to analyse
a panel of clinical and environmental Achromobacter strains to search for species-specific
pathogenesis determinants, and study interaction with the host innate immune system.
- activities:
The post doc will conduct experiments and data analysis, valorize experimental data, including their
interpretation and presentation in the form of reports and scientific articles, and participate in lab
meetings and conferences/symposia. Experiments include: Zebrafish micro injections, biological assays,
and immunological, microscopic, bacteriological and molecular biological techniques. Bibliographical
research. Writing of reports and articles. Presentations (oral, poster) The post doc will also be involved
in zebrafish husbandry
