Offer Description

A position is open for a Research Fellowship for a Master under the project “Industrial cluster for advanced green fuel production” - M-ECO2 (PRIO), REFª C644930471-00000041, within the scope of the Mobilizing Agendas for Business Innovation, framed and financed under component nº 5 - Capitalization and Business Innovation of the Recovery and Resilience in Portugal.

Scientific field: Electrochemistry for renewable fuels.

 

Admission requirements: Candidates must have a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related areas and be enrolled in doctoral programs or non-lecture course. Preference will be given to candidates with training and research experience in the specific scientific area of the workplan, namely in the areas of Applied Chemistry and Electrochemistry, Materials Engineering, and/or other related areas that have given the candidate experience in Electrolysis for Water and CO2 electro-reduction. Not exceeding, with the conclusion of this scholarship contract, an accumulated period of 2 (two) years, consecutive or interspersed, if enrolled in a non-academic degree course, or of 4 (four) years if enrolled in a Doctorate. Candidates must have excellent English written and verbal communication skills will be required for technical reporting and working in a collaborative environment. Candidates who have obtained a degree abroad must have their degree recognized in Portugal, under the terms of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of 16th August. Documents attesting to this academic situation must be submitted until the contracting stage of the scholarship and may be replaced by a declaration of honour during the application process.

 

Workplan: The work to be carried out is aligned with the objectives of WP1 of the M-ECO2 project, aiming for the:

  1. Simulation of electro-chemical devices and components with mesh-based numerical solver;
  2. Optimization of the materials and geometry of porous (3D) electrodes;
  3. Computational design of H2O (for H2 production) and H2O+CO2 (for syngas production) electrolysers including previously-optimized components;
  4. Characterization of materials and devices fabricated according to the modelling guidelines
  5. Dissemination of work prepared in reports, articles and technical-scientific conferences.

 

Workplace: The work will be developed at the Materials Research Center (CENIMAT/I3N) of the Nova School of Science and Technology, and/or in other facilities that may be necessary for its execution, under the scientific supervision of Prof. Manuel J. Mendes and Dra. Ana Reis Machado.

 

Duration of the fellowship(s): The fellowship will last for 12 months, starting in January 2025, possibly renewable within the duration of the project.

 

Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to € 1.259.64, according to the table of values of the scholarships awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the country. The grantee also benefits from personal accident insurance during the period of granting the scholarship and may be reimbursed for voluntary social insurance equivalent to the 1st tier. The scholarship will be paid monthly on the last business day of each month by bank transfer.
