Offer Description
The BOKU Core Facilities, Core Facility Multiscale Imaging is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Senior Scientist).
Extent of employment: 40 hours per week
Duration of employment: as of now - permanent
Workplace: 1190 Vienna, Muthgasse 11
Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1 lit. b, € 4.752,30
Responsibilities:
- Support of users: Training, supervision of ongoing work, user management using the online bookung system PPMS
- Independent planning, coordination and realisation of projects for the CF MSI
- Support and development of advanced quantitative microscopy-based workflows and date processing (3D reconstructions, deconvolution, FRAP, super-resolution)
- Participation in image analysis projects and support of research projects by providing microscopy services at hte highest level
- Overall operation of CF MSI (coordination of device utilisation, adminstration, issuing quotes, invoicing, maintenance of the website etc.)
- Independent or coordinated maintenance and servicing of the devices as well as further development and optimisation of the general CF-MSI infrastructure
- Management of the interface of the CF MSI devices with BOKU-IT
- Organization and conduction of training courses, teaching, technical workshops and public relations work
Required skills and qualifications:
- Doctorate degree/PhD in the field of life sciences, preferably in the field of cell biology or in another field related to imaging technologies
- Language skills: English (written and spoken), German knowledge is considered as an advantage
- Proven scientific professional experience as a postdoc with expertise in microscopy (especially the imaging techniques, analyses etc. listed on our homepage)
- Experience in using image analysis software, e.g. IMARIS, Huygens
- Practical experience in the preparation and handling of living biological samples, knowledge of various fluorophores and staining techniques (especially in the field of live-cell imaging)
- Service-orientated, precise, structured and reliable way of working
- Independent working style, high level of motivation and ability to work in a team
- Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate complex information clearly
- Good knowledge of MS Office and Leica and Zeiss instrument software
- Willingness to participate in workshops and demos from various microscope manufacturers
- Willingness to participate in the public relations work of BOKU University / Core Facilities
- Willingness to participate in relevant priority and cooperation
programmes of the BOKU University / Core Facilities
Desired skills and qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of cell biology (especially plants) with a focus on cell growth, subcellular structures, subcellular transport mechanisms
- Experience in university teaching in the field of microscopy
- Experience abroad at universities and/or research institutions
- Experience in acquiring third-party funding (fellowships or research grants)
